blue spiral Reiki Mawashi

The traditional method of Reiki circle or Reiki current. This technique was taught by Usui Sensei and Mrs. Takata and is in Adonea's Usui Reiki Ryoho Shoden Manual.

This technique helps to sensitize the Reiki Practitioners to feel energy flow. A group of Reiki practitioners make a circle, holding hands and allowing the Reiki current to flow first in one direction then in another. It is not uncommon for the whole group to start moving in a counter-clockwise or clockwise circle. The word Mawashi means ‘round, game, revolve, current’.

The technique:

  1. All practitioners form a circle, sitting or standing.
  2. Each person has their left hand palm up, under the person’s hand (on their left) which is palm down; and their right hand palm down, over the person’s hand (on their right) which is palm up. Everyone’s hands are about 1 to 2” apart (not touching).
  3. The teacher begins the Reiki flow to the right. It moves from one hand to the other, resulting in a strong flow or current of energy around the circle, through each practitioner. Do this for several minutes or longer.
  4. To increase the intensity of the current try vibrating the hand, which is palm down (a Qi Gong technique).
  5. Now switch your hands, the left hand is palm down and right hand palm up and let the current flow. Do this for several minutes or longer.
  6. The current can be quite strong at times and often the whole group begins to move counter-clockwise or clockwise like a big spiraling whirlpool.

blue spiral Shuchu Reiki

The traditional method of a group treatment or concentrated Reiki. This technique was taught by Usui Sensei and Mrs. Takata and is in Adonea's Usui Reiki Ryoho Shoden Manual.

A technique which concentrates Reiki energy (the energy is intensified with each additional practitioner that joins the treatment). Several practitioners work on one client; while working they all desire good health and well-being for the client. Often done during a Shoden class, at Reiki meetings, Healing Circles or during a Reiki Marathon. The word Shuchu means ‘concentrate, focus, center, concentration’.

The technique:

  1. Before you begin, you may want to have, one or more massage tables (the floor, a picnic table, kitchen table, sofa cushions, etc. can be used as substitutes). Pillows/cushions for the head and knees, and blankets are also good to have on hand.
  2. One person lies on each massage table face up.
  3. 2 or more Reiki practitioners do a hands-on treatment covering all of the positions. . The more practitioners the more hand positions covered at once and the stronger the flow of energy will be.
  4. While doing the treatment, all practitioners are asking Reiki for the good health and well-being of the person they are working on.
  5. The head and front of the body are covered at the same time, then the back. When 10 or more practitioners are working on the same person, only the head/front of the body is done.
