NLP In a Nutshell

Neuro-Linguistic Programming, developed by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, is more than just a distillation of the most effective therapeutic techniques and communications approaches. It is also a calculation or computation of what things are possible for human brains to do based on models of human behavior and language patterns.

A few key ideas that make life and change much better are:

  • People are in charge of their own state of mind
  • There is a structure to what and how people think
  • The origin of a belief or behavior is ultimately unimportant
  • People can make change happen rapidly

NLPers are trained to be much more aware of the many ways in which people communicate consciously and unconsciously and to ask the question "How could we use that?" when faced with something that others might label as a problem.
