Can Victims Heal From the Effects of Child Sexual Abuse?

Yes. The memories will never go away, but a survivor of child sexual abuse can learn to deal with the memories and bad feelings so as to be able to live a happy life.

It is recommended that a survivor do one or more of the following things to get help healing:

  1. Get therapy from a qualified professional, and one with whom she feels comfortable;
  2. Find a group of other survivors with whom she can talk about her feelings and experiences, and where everyone can learn from each other;
  3. Find family members and/or trusted friends who will support you during the healing process.
