Drosera sp.'Chapada Diamantina'
This small, semi-erect Brazilian Drosera was given to me by another U.S.
grower who could not completely verify the plants origin. Its numerous
large, white stipules are unfortunately not clearly visable in this
image. While I do not doubt this plant was found on Chapada Diamantina,
I would like to hear from anyone who knows who originally collected it or
knows what it could be. Expert sources believe it is Drosera communis.
This photo was taken early in 1999 before plants really started to
thrive but you should be able to get an idea of what it looks like anyway.
It currently looks like a small, hairy D.intermedia. I have seed
from another grower of a D.sp.'Chapada Diamantina' which apparently grows
to 3" high. The above plants have not exceeded 3/4" in height and appear
to be reaching maturity. Could this be another species from Chapada
Diamantina? Time will tell. Seed will be planted in the fall
when hot summer temperatures are no longer a threat.
