BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING
November 19, 1999

Meeting called to order by President Bruce C. at 10:00 AM and the agenda was presented.

ROLL CALL - MEMBERS PRESENT:

MINUTES:

The minutes from the August 27,1999 BOD Meeting were reviewed, corrected and accepted.

TREASURERS REPORT:

Frank reported.The report was reviewed and accepted.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

a.)Publication Committee: Shane reported.The Newsletter continues to need articles.It is suggested that we print a list of the 2000 BOD candidates, an article on R.C. Week Celebrations, an article soliciting volunteers for the Pulmonary Conference, and an article on Volunteering in General. Dec. 1st is the deadline for articles.

b.)Membership: Bruce C.reported.See attached.The NSRC has 320 voting members at this time.Bruce continues to send letters to members who have let their membership lapse.There are 963 L.R.C.P.'s in Nebraska.

c.)Nominations-Elections:Mike Stoakes reported. The ballot was approved.The goals for the ballots have been changed to a mailing date of mid January and a deadline for returns of February 15, 2000.

d.) Program/Education:Melody reported.The Apria Conference had an attendance of approx. 100 - 125.Apria donated a portion of their proceeds to the NSRC.They also presented 3 state meeting registrations as prizes.Melody also reported on the State Meeting.They are close to having all the speakers sponsored.They have written the letter for the vendor sponsorships.Bruce suggested a historical pictorial for the meeting, and Melody will write an article for the Inspiration requesting photos.There was also discussion about a NSRC Calendar that would be ready by the state meeting. The scholarship committee is directed to send out the application letters in early January, to give students more time to complete them.

e.)Legislative/Bylaws:Marcy reported.There is an open position on the Board of Examiners, but nominations must take place within two weeks.The BOD was asked to think of nominees. Marcy discussed Scope of Practice Issues.Marcy also reported on the Medication Aide Legislation, and is watching it's effects on LRCP's very closely.The emphasis is on education being done by RCP's where applicable.

f.)Public Relations:Bruce will contact the ALA about an increased participation at the Golf Classic in 2000.

DELEGATES REPORT:

Marcy and Tom report on Resolutions that need the BOD's input.The BOD also requested that the Delegates offer a resolution to request email addresses on the Membership Form at the Dec. House of Delegates Meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:

a.)Citizens for a Healthier Nebraska.A motion is made by Marcy that the NSRC become a member of CHN.The motion carried.

b.)Communications Network.Bruce reported.He requests that the Directors facilitate the development of a Call List.It is suggested that the most efficient way to communicate is by email. It is also suggested that email address's be requested on the Registration for the State Meeting.Tad will write an article for the Inspiration requesting LRCP's to send their email address's to their respective Director.

c.)Polysomnography Issues.A motion was made,in regards to the administration of Oxygen and CPAP titration, by non licensed RPSGT's, and other non licensed personnel, the NSRC supports the scope as defined in the State of Nebraska Respiratory Care Practice Act.The motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS:

a.)Marcy questions a more formalized orientation for new members of the BOD.Discussion followed, but no decision.

b.)Sue reported that the Omaha Asthma Alliance, has received a 5 year grant of 7 million dollars to be used to educate school nurses.Tom Spain has asked to be notified of interested individuals to work on this.Tad voiced an interest.

c.)Bruce C. reported on difficulties with the Web page, that Bruce A.is trying to fix.

A motion was made to adjourn at 12:15 PM.
