RELAXATION
Relaxation is very important in reducing stress, anxiety, panic attacks and depression. When your body is relaxed you can't panic. I have found several ways to relax. The most important way is to Deep Breath! Deep breathing is very important. It is the most important coping skill that you can use. By deep breating you are getting oxygen back into your blood stream. This will take away the light headedness, dizziness, hot/cold flashes, hyperventalation and lower your heart rate. Here is what you do when you feel you need to relax so you don't panic, become more anxious or stressed.
DEEP BREATHING EXERCISES
1. Inhale for 5 seconds
2. Hold for 5 seconds
3. Exhale for 5 seconds
Do this 5+ times til you feel more relaxed. Remember your body can only do one thing at a time. So it can't panic or be anxious if you are deep breathing and relaxed!!! Also, when you are deep breathing repeat positive affirmations like: "I am ok" "this will pass" "No more fear" The key is to always think POSITIVE!
