MR. USA'S 5 SAFE
STRATEGIES FOR SUPER INDOOR TANNING
Who better than a competitive bodybuilder who also
happens to be in the tanning business to talk about how to bronze
safely, effectively and with the kind of glowing results you want
in the quickest possible time? One man who wears both these hats
is Gary Guinn, a heavyweight competitor who has stood on
bodybuilding stages from New Mexico to Hawaii, gone on to
recently capture the (NABBA) Mr. USA title, observed a lot about
methods to tan the human skin and put his knowledge into an
enterprise with the fitness and bodybuilding lifestyle in
mind.
Having had to prepare for bodybuilding events around
the Southwest and Western U.S.--regions where the best tans are
usually to be found and set the standard of appearance for fit
bods elsewhere--has left Gary with plenty of first-hand
experience when it comes to what will work and what won't. This
6'2" bodybuilder has had to learn what photographs well and what
sets off a peak muscular condition to its fullest visual flare
onstage. With prolonged exposure to natural sunlight posing a
possible health threat to humans that is greater than at any
other time in recorded history, the alternative possibilities of
sunbed tanning are all the more attractive, but as Gary points
out to his own customers at Savage Tannery, his newly
opened tanning salon in north Scottsdale, Arizona, there are
still some important do's and don'ts anyone should be aware of
before putting your body onto a tanning bed:
- Always wear eye protection while tanning. UV light can
penetrate closed eyelids. If you wear contact lenses,
always remove them before commencing your tan session.
- Always inform the salon attendant of the fact if you're on
any medication whatsoever. Medications can cause a reaction
under UV light. If you're uncertain whether you should
expose yourself to UV tan due to current medication, then
consult your physician first.
- Always use a good moisturizer after your tanning session.
The extra moisture is vital to maintain healthy skin, and
also contributes to a longer lasting tan.
- Avoid the use of outdoor tanning products while using indoor
tanning equipment. Outdoor cremes and gels actually hinder
your indoor tanning, aside from possibly damaging the
tanning bed.
- Avoid excess--do not attempt to overtan. A steady and
gradual buildup of your tan will produce the kind of natural
golden bronze you seek.
An even, attractive tan is an essential overall component
for most bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts. And for those
about to go onstage to exhibit their muscle, a glowing, healthy
bronzed look is the icing on the cake that can enhance the
definition and proportion of a hard-earned physique and help put
them on the winner's dais. "You can really go for the gold when
you've "gone gold" the right way," Gary emphasizes. And that's
exactly what this Southwest champ with the "Savage" tan is
providing for customers seeking the best option for that
sensational color too.
