I'm married to an alcoholic, 34 yrs of marriage, and am desparately seeking help. I'm not in an alanon group but plan to be soon. I have kept waiting for "him" to get better so that I could. Guess what...he isn't better and I am getting worse as well as im. I feel like I'm drowning in this problem of his and can't seem to keep my head clear anymore because of all the jumbled stuff going on in my head. I try not to be angry and treat him as I should....but then here he comes home half tanked again plus riving in that shape which he absolutely should not. He has been blessed with 4 great children and 2 grandkids. But, it doesn't seem to matter. I need help for my own sanity as I seem to have found that I have handed my life over to his problem in tryi g to "fix" him. Life has passed me by while trying to hide this problem from everyone and now I don't care who knows it as long as I can find some peace of mind. I feel if I could unscrew my head and pour all the "stuff" out, I would feel so much better Any suggestions?

I have been touched by the letters and comments that are posted on this site. Specifically, the one letter that a lonely wife wrote to her husband. You see, I feel as if my wife may be in this position as well, only different. I am not a bar buster or eve abusive. My problem is that I can not have just one drink. I either drink till it's gone or pass out or don't touch it. I have choosen to not touch it, but only after it may be too late. I love my wife and three children and will do anything that I can t make things better, starting with myself.
