One of the American Diabetes Association's signature events, the American Diabetes Alert, will be held March 23, 1999. The Alert is the Association's effort to identify the over 5 million Americans who have diabetes but do not know it. In order to do this,we encourage everyone to take a simple test that helps to identify the risk factorsfor diabetes. Recent studies have confirmed that the sooner diabetes is detected and treated properly, the better chance people have of avoiding the serious complications of this deadly disease.
