In Loving Memory
Robert Lee Scott

Where are you going?
Where are you going?
Can you take me with you?
For my hand is cold...
And needs warming.
Oh where are you going?

(From the Rock Opera "Godspell")

My father... My friend... My refuge... My hero.

This is my dad as a baby. Born Ides of March in Glendale, CA. Son of Ernest Lee Scott and Bessie Leona (Romines) Scott.

Song of the Ancestors

On the edge of sleep, I hear them
Distant...
Drums, voices, the clap and clatter of shells,
The snap and crackle of warming flame.

On the edge of sleep, I see them
Faint...
Footprints in the snow, unmarked graves
Mute, heads bent as they lean into the wind.

On the edge of sleep, I feel them
Soft...
Touching, gently leading,
Pushing back curtains in time.

On the edge of sleep
I perceive what in waking
Eludes me.
They come to me, whispering,
Calling, teaching, embracing...

Oh my grandmothers!
Teach me
The Sacred Songs;
Show me the Sacred Way...
So that all I do
And all I say
May be pleasing
In Creator's sight.
