5/6/01  Okay, I know I haven't been updating lately.  I have had some things going on in my real life that have prevented me from doing so.  I don't really have all that much to add right now, but I should update within the week.  Right now, here's the news that I have.

The new issue of People magazine just came out.  50 Most Beautiful People.  Well, for those of you who have not read it yet, they forgot one person.  Russell was not included this year.  I am not sure why, he is the most beautiful man in the world if you ask me!

You can go to
mtv.com to vote for Russell and Gladiator in the MTV movie awards.  Vote and vote often!

Go to the articles page for some new articles about Russell.

4/11/01  Well, Russell has won yet another award for his outstanding performance in Gladiator!  This one was the Blockbuster Award!  Joaquin Pheonix won Favorite Villian!

Russell has also been nominated for Best Actor by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films.  Gladiator had a lot of nominations as well.  The awards will be presented at the 27th annual Saturn Awards.

4/7/01  HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RUSSELL!!!!!!  Yes, today Mr. Crowe turns 37.  If you would like to send him a card or gift, click
here to go to the address page.

There is one pic of Russell in this weeks issue of People magazine.  I hope to have it posted very soon.

I have added yet another photo gallery!  I know that seven galleries are a lot, but what can I do when people keep sending in pics!  Keep sending them, and I'll keep making new galleries for them.  Click
here to visit the gallery!

3/28/01  Be sure to check out my new
quotes page!  I just added it today.  As far as Russell news goes, he has begun filming at Princeton on his new movie A Beautiful Mind, which is directed by Ron Howard.  Russell plays mathmetician John Forbes Nash, Jr.

3/25/01  Well, the 73rd Annual Academy Awards are over, and what a night for Gladiator! All in all, the movie
won 5 awards, but the most important one in my book was Russell's win for Best Actor! Gladiator won Best
Picture, and it also won for Costume Design, Sound, and Visual Effects. Ridley Scott lost to Steven Soderbergh,
and Joaquin Pheonix lost to Benicio Del Torro. Click the pic to see my pics of Russell at the Oscars.

Russell, who was dressed in an Armani suit that he helped design, was accompanied to the Oscars by Danielle Spencer and they sat in the front row with Joaquin. Russell wore his grandfather's medal on his lapel. Steve Martin, the host, made some comments about Russell that the audience thought was funny, but Russell didn't look like he thought the same.  He sat in the audeince and chewed gum throughout the entire show.  Russell was genually shocked when Hillary Swank called his name as the Best Actor.  In his speech, he thanked his mum and dad, Ridley Scott, and the cast and crew of Gladiator.  He dedicated the award to his late grandfather and his late uncle David.  I hope to have the speech  very soon, so check back!  For a complete list of the winners, visit
oscar.com.

In his speech, Russell said,

`Really folks, I owe this to one bloke, and his name is Ridley Scott,'' Crowe said of his director.

``If you grow up ... in the suburbs of anywhere, a dream like this seems kind of vaguely ludicrous and completely unattainable,'' the Australian actor said. ``This moment is directly connected to those childhood imaginings. And for anybody who's on the downside of advantage, and relying purely on courage, it's possible.''
(thanks to Yahoo!)

CONGRATULATIONS
to Russell and the cast and crew of Gladiator!!!

3/22/01  Russell appeared on Good Morning America this morning, but it was just a highlight from last year's interview.  I will have the interview and pics soon.

3/20/01  I realize that I haven't updated in a while. I have been gathering info and pics.  Anyway, there is a lot to tell you about, so here goes nothing!

As you may or may not already know, Russell is on the cover of People magazine.  I have all the
pics (thanks to Erika!), and the article.  Click on the cover to go to it!

Be sure to check the article page.  I have added a few more today.  There is an article from HELLO
magazine (UK) written by Danielle Spencer.  Yes, the very same Danielle that Russell has been on again
off again with for years.  She talks about him from her perspective, in a way that none of us know him!
Click on the Hello cover to go to that article.

There is also an article from
apeman.com which is a commical look at how Australian men are taking
over American women.  CAUTION!!!!!  This one contains some language that may not be suitable for
everyone.  Read at your own risk!

Russell is scheduled to be on Good Morning America Thursday, March 22.  Of course, this is subject to
change.  I also have heard that he was on this morning.  If so, I'm sorry I didn't update sooner!

And last but not least, do not forget about the Oscars!!!  Be sure to watch Sunday night, March 25 to see who will walk away a winner!  Let's just hope that Russell has more luck on Sunday!!!

3/11/01  Okay, I am sure that all of you know by now that the SAG awards were a disappointment for Russell and Gladiator.  Russell lost to Benicio Del Torro....I'm not sure if I spelled that correctly, I've never even heard of him!  Gladiator lost to Traffic.  Joaquin Pheonix didn't win, either.  Congratulations to those who did win, and better luck at the Oscars for Russell and the Gladiator cast. For a complete list of all the winners, visit the
SAG site.

On a better note, Russell did get up on stage once to introduce Gladiator as one of the five nominees for Best Ensemble Cast.  He talked about the movie a bit and told about the characters, and he gave a quote from the movie.  He was talking pretty fast, but I'm always a sucker for that Aussie accent!  He was obviously in a good mood, flashing a broad yet fake grin when his name was called out as a nominee.  To view pics of him arriving at the ceremony, click
HERE

CONGRATULATIONS to Russell and the cast of Gladiator!

2/25/01  Gladiator has recieved the Orange British Academy of Film and Television Award for Best Film.  The producers said that Russell was the soul of the movie, and the only man who could die in one woman's arms and have another one waiting for him on the other side.  Russell lost Best Actor to Jamie Bell
(Billy Elliot).  Jamie thanked Russell in his acceptance speech.  Ridley Scott lost Best Director to Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon).  Gladiator also recieved the Orange Audience Award, and 5 awards total.

2/19/01  Well, Russell has won yet another Best Actor Award!  This one was the UK's Empire Award.....Connie Neilsen (Lucilla) took home the Best Actress Award, and Gladiator won Best Picture.  Unfortunately, Ridley Scott lost out to Snatch director and husband to Madonna, Guy Ritchie.

2/15/01   According to Entertainment Tonight, Russell has been named ShoWest Male Star of the Year!

THIS JUST IN!!!!!!!!
It is official.......Russell Crowe has been nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor in Gladiator!  All together Gladiator recieved 12 nominations--the most this year-- including Best Picture, Best Director (Ridely Scott), Best Supporting Actor (Joaqin Pheonix), Art Direction, Cinematography, Film Editing, Origional Writing, Visual Effects, Sound, Costume Design, and Music Score.   CONGRATULATIONS to Russell and the cast and crew of Gladiator!!!!  Be sure to watch the 73rd Annual Oscar Ceremony March 25, on ABC to find out who wins!

2/12/01    By now we all know about the whole Russell Meg, Russell LeeLee, Russell Courteny thing.  Well, maybe not all of us know....for those of you who have been living under a rock, I'll explain.....Russell and Meg Ryan met on the set of the movie
Proof of Life....they fell in love and Meg left her long time hubby, Dennis Quaid.....Then, Russell and Meg said goodbye to each other, and Russell moved on to other things.......Apparently at the Golden Globe Awards, Russell ran into LeeLee Sobieski and the two of them hit it off......LeeLee's mom told Russell to back off because LeeLee is only 18.......I would like to think that Russell didn't know how old she was.......According to this weeks addition of the Star, Russell has recently been seen with the lead singer of Hole, Courteny Love........I would like to think that Russell has better taste in women than that, but whatever makes him happy I guess........

Now, let's put the song rumor to rest........Russell's song, WENDY, is not about Meg Ryan.........Sure, it sounds like Meg, but it is not about her......It is impossible considering that the song was written in 1995 and Russell and Meg didn't even meet until 1998.......People, please, get your facts straight!

Congrats to Russell on his Critics Choice Award......Russell was also nominated for a Golden Globe Award, a SAG Award, and a BAFTA Award for his role as Maximus.......The Oscar nominations are tomorrow, so check back here to see if he is nominated or not.....(like any of us doubts that he will be!)
This page is dedicated to posting all the latest news and gossip about Russell Crowe.  I promise to try and keep it updated, but I can't always guarantee that it will be.  Keep checking back here though, I should have something new every week!
