Teddy Bear Kisses

  She lay there in the sterile white,
a pillow beneath her head.
Her little eyes looked around,
but no Daddy was by her bed.
She knew that he loved her but
there were bills to pay.
And soon he would come back to her
as soon as he finished his day.
The doctors told her she'd be fine,
and the nurses tried to make her laugh.
And though she always had a smile
She knew she wouldn't last.
Her blue eyes so sweet and pure
inside them held a smile.
But she kept a joy within her heart
and Daddy in mind all the while.
Late that night her Daddy came and
he carried a special surprise.
He had brought her a teddy bear
just to see her eyes.
I know he isn't Daddy hun, but
perhaps when I am away.
You and teddy can spend some time,
and play throughout the day.
With weak arms she hugged him and
then she softly said.
When your'e not here to kiss
me goodnight,
I'll have teddy bear kisses instead.
I am sure me and teddy will get
along just fine.
And when he sleeps I will sing to him
like we did all the time.
With that she lay her body down
and hugged tight her newest friend.
And as her Daddy had many times,
he tucked her and teddy in.
Somewhere in the night time,
A little angel is alone.
Her little voice fallen quiet as
the Angels guide her home.
In her room her Daddy sat, his
eyes red from all the tears.
As he rocked upon her bed and
held the teddy near.
Can you hear me darling, somewhere
up there, up above?
Did you know you were the world to me?
The one true thing I could love.
Do you see me crying, it is you my
Little angel I miss.
And though I want to hold you tight,
I can only send a teddy bears kiss
