HOT WAX PAINTING
Purchasing my first digital camera
so I can photograph the paintings I've been doing using a melted crayon technique I've been experimenting with since May '03
I began working small on a warming tray, drawing with crayons on paper that was hot from the heat of the tray it was placed on.  The crayons melted on contact and the resullt was a smooth silky flow.  Images surfaced, sometimes ones I created intentionally, sometimes just what shimmered up from the puddles.  As I gained confidence I wanted to work larger.  Friends helped me by building large boxes with heat lamps placed inside and I bought sheets of metal to place over them.  On these I could work in sizes up to 24" x  36" or even larger if I wanted to by putting two boxes side by side.
