Ryan Phillippe was born on September 10, 1974, in New Castle, Delaware. Ryan first appeared in the television series One Life to Live. He played daytime TV’s first gay teenager, Billy Douglas. He later moved to NBC’s Lake Success. He appeared in a number of smaller TV roles before he moved to what he’s more recognized for: films. Ryan’s first big success was in the film White Squall, where he costarred with Scott Wolf, Ethan Embry, and Jeff Bridges.
Nationwide recognition came after the success of the 1997 horror film, I Know What You Did Last Summer. He had a starring role alongside other Young-Hollywooders, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Sarah Michelle Gellar. While in the “big films”, Ryan also starred in a number of smaller budget, independent films, like Homegrown, Little Boy Blue, and Nowhere.
Ryan’s first leading role was in the remake of the 70’s nightclub, 54, in which he plays Shane O’Shea, a kid from New Jersey.
Ryan recently married his girlfriend, and costar from Cruel Intentions, Reese Witherspoon. Reese recently gave birth to the couple's first child. |
