Dear All,
I am
sorry for giving the materials so late. I hope you still have enough time to prepare for Sunday. This week, we will be studying on the revelation of God, how God speaks to us. There are two main parts for us to look at, the first part is the general revelation and the second is the special revelation.
I will give an intro about the topic first for like 5 minutes, then the fellowship will be divided into groups and have discussion for the first part, that is the general revelation. This is where the leaders are needed in the groups. I don¡¦t know how many groups there will be, we will see on Sunday. Ideally, there can be from 3 to 6 in each groups.
So, what about general revelation? To study this, we will read Psalm 19. The first few verses point out the key point of the study, that God is revealed in His creation. This has been the main theme of the whole course so far, everyone should be familiar with this idea now, I hope.
The v.1~4 will be the focus. We find that God is talking to us, but there is no voice. This clever irony used tell us that the silence is so loud that we can hear it. So the general revelation of God to people will be His creation.
The psalm goes on talking about how just, powerful and precious the word of God is how people should treat it and benefit from it. I hope this part is clear to you. The ending verses are the prayer of David that the word of God will be close to his heart and he can be found pure and pleasing in God's sight.
So, what you will be doing is to get the group to read the whole Psalm, and get them to discuss parts of it and maybe come up with some questions you like to ask later on. The aim is to help everyone to understand that God speaks to us through the creation. Here are some of the questions I have put out for you to ask, but you don¡¦t have to follow the exact format, you can come up with your own questions as you wish. Just make sure people get v.1~4.
What is being revealed? (from? to?) How has it been revealed?
How is the word/law of God described in v.8~10?
After knowing/receiving the revelation (after being revealed), what is the proper respond as people?
The discussion should be around 20 min max, if you cannot finish by that time, it is ok, we will come back as a group and share some thoughts together with other groups. If you finish early, just try to get people to share more, maybe their experiences on how God talking to them, not necessarily in the way of general revelation.
Then we should come back and do the part on special revelation when I will do the usual talk thing.
Thanks to you all~~
Leo
