(These will be gathered at bottom and sewn on the sides)

Stra
p:  Cut 1 - 22 1/2" long x 2 1/2" wide (This will be attached to the sides)

*You may want to add an interfacing to make strap more sturdy.

Top Flap
:  With the bag body piece cut out, on a 9 1/4" side, measure the size needed above for the top flap piece; centering it from both sides.

Zipper Placemen
t:  Baste the top flap piece to the area it was cut from. Now, baste the zipper to the top flap piece and the area where it was cut out from.  (You might have to ease it in a bit.) If this looks good, permanent stitch the zipper in.

Pockets:  Make a 1/4" hem, folded over twice at the top (The 5 1/2" long at the top). Measure and press sides over 1/4".  *Do this the same for all four pockets. Gather bottom of pockets, less than 3/8".

Pocket Placement:  Right side facing you, measure evenly for two pockets at the bottom area of your material, allowing for 3/8" seams of the bag. (Should allow 1/4" from the sides of bag and bag bottom.) The pockets placement area, on the sides of the bag, should measure 2 1/2" wide where it is attached to bag. Remember the pockets are gathered to allow enough space for the daubers to fit into. Baste pockets onto side panels. If they look even and good to you, permanent stitch them in place.

Bag Body:  With the right sides together, stitch along the short ends. (This will include the zippered area.) The bag will look like a tube to you right now.

Attatch Sides to Body of Bag:  This may be a little tricky!  The area where the zippered top is, is of course the top of the bag. Very Important--OPEN the Zipper! You will see the importance of this later when you need to turn the work.
With the right sides of bag still facing with the bag body, do the same while placing the sides to the body of the bag; you should be looking at the wrong sides of all the work. So, with this in mind, PIN the top of one side so that it's top of one side is touching the sewed area of the top. (LOOK at it, so you see what I mean.) This will help you to figure out where to place the sides of the bag. Now, pin and ease the side pieces around. When you have this done, the pockets should be directly at the bottom, opposite of the zippered closing area. If this all looks good and pretty even, sew around. You may wish to use your pinking shears to trim around the edges. Now pull the bag thru the opened zipper area.

Strap:  Fold in half longwise, right sides facing. Stitch along one short side and along the long side. Clip and turn, right side out. Fold in about 1/4" and sew across the open end. You will need to press close to the seams and top stitch around. Place straps evenly on both ends of bag, about 1 1/2" from top edge area and centered evenly from the sides. Carefully stay stitch across each strap end to hold straps in place on bag.
