Leroy's Trip to Yosemite Park - June 2004

This was the second year that we stayed in Curry Village in Yosemite Valley. We were not sure if it would be as fun as it was the year before, but it was. There were lots of rocks to climb, lots of animals to see, and plenty of swimming. Leroy has a blast, and we had a hard time getting him to sleep at night. All-in-all, a 5 star vacation for the whole family.

The only part I didn't get pictures of was our raft trip on the second day (didn't want to risk getting the camera wet). We went up the Merced River, stopping along the way to swim. The water was freezing cold, but refreshing on a summer day. The grownup ended up with blisters from rowing, but it was a lot of fun.

Leroy gets settled into our tent cabin. He is going through a real "Seuss" phase, and whenever he wasn't running around, he was reading a book.

Rock climbing and seeing animals figured prominantly in Leroy's "TO DO" list on the trip. No bears on this trip (maybe that's for the best?).

We started the next day by driving up to Glacier Point (thousands of feet right above our tent cabin in the valley). I've decided it's impossible to take a bad picture of Half Dome.

The next day, we started off with a short bike ride to Happy Isles which features a nature center, and the early part of the Merced River. It had been a while since our last bike outing, so we were very saddle sore. Leroy LOVED the nature center with it's stuffed bears, and other creatures, and kept asking to go back again. We spent the afternoon at Bridal Veil falls, ignoring the safety warnings by climbing the rocks.

Then, it was back to Curry Village for pizza (and a drink for the adults to chase away the aches and pains).
