Queen Rhiadora Shalonost waved a slender hand, dismissing the group of young messanger boys from her Circle of Stars meeting room. They scrambled out quickly and quietly, leaving the elven queen to ponder again. She and her mother had given specific instructions regarding the delivery of her coronation announcements. Information about the ceremony was not to fall into the wrong hands, yet apparently something went wrong. But how? How did the Ka'vanth get hold of it?
Rhiadora sighed and played out several scenarios in her mind but without further information, they meant nothing. Had an announcement fallen from a pouch and blown away, later to be found by the dark elf House? Had someone within the other kingdoms informed them of the ceremony? Did a messanger simply misdeliver one? Did a messanger "misdeliver" one on purpose? Rhiadora winced at the thought. Couldn't be that. The messangers wear loyal and wouldn't betray her... But what if...
She shook her head clearing the thoughts. "I could play what if all; day, Ebony." She said to her black panther companion. She dropped a hand to the large cat's head to lazily scratch behind the fuzzy ears. "Well what's done is done regarding that. Can't change the fact that the Ka'vanth barged in on my coronation. But now I wonder what's next."
"You think something is next, Speaker?" Rhiadora glanced up at the advisor that until now, had been quietly standing off to the side, waiting for the queen to speak first about her thoughts. "Possibly." She answered him. "It's hard to tell. You remember that 'gift' the Ka'vanth gave me. That picture on the pin of elves being forced from their home with a dark hand pointing them away... Obviously they're still jealous and upset that they aren't allowed to be part of the Vallenwoods." The advisor nodded his head in agreement and she continued, "And think back on the things they said. Things such as 'good luck because you're going to need it' and 'wear this pin in good health while you still can' and 'we come peacefully.. For now'"
He nodded his head again and remained quiet for a moment before asking, "Do you really think they would move against you, Speaker?"
Rhiadora shrugged a bit. "Since my coronation there's been heightened dark elf activity out in the City. One particular annoyance is actually a Ka'tath but a dark elf is a dark elf so who knows what they're up to." She smoothed her elegant robes and walked towards the exit of the room. "Its getting late. I'm going to get some rest."
"Don't let this disturb your sleep, Speaker."
She paused and glanced back at him with a chuckle. "Oh no," she said. "For us to live in fear of their tiny House would be giving them the upper hand in whatever game this is they've started."
He bowed to her in farewell and Queen Rhiadora retired to her chambers, still pondering on, but not fearing, the House Ka'vanth.
