Jesce stood quietly, guarding the cell containing Ursah. All had been quiet for a good time now, and he merely stood there, waiting silently. The silence was aburptly broken however, a flutter of wings coming through the door, a small black-feathered raven flew into the room audibly. Jesce smirked, and soundly clocked it upside the head, letting the bird fall to the ground incapacitated.
Moments later, a black cat slipped through the bars, and moved to rub up against the prisoner, before hissing at Jesce. He shook his head, and opened his palm toward the bars. Vines began to grow, wrapping around eachother and the cell door, though too late, the cat leapt out between the bars. He shook his head, and stepped out of the cell after it, hefting his staff...
It didn't take long to find the cause. Infact, Jesce tracked the warlock to althainia fairly quickly even. What else is a Verminasian warlock doing within walking distance of our grove, and no less, accompanied by that strange pressance I felt earlier? he mused to himself idly, he knew he felt someone else in the room, he'd felt it in the jail earlier. Apparently, it was either an invoker or a necromancer. Nevertheless, he stalked toward Karmak, brandishing his weapon
The North gate is to the west Karmak stated rather plainly, though Jesce, smug as usual, merely smirked and whistled soundly. Koba (his wolf), came running up alongside him I'm not looking for the gate, I'm looking for you Jesce replied, and brought his staff to bear as Karmak lunged and swung for his skull. The blow parried, Jesce addopted a wider stance and alternated hands on his own staff, rapidly punching short, well-timed blows for offending warlock, though each was parried.
Jesce's suspicions were proven true however, when a peice of meat thrown from what seemed to be thin air, suddenly expanded, and swelled up into the shape of a massive bloody golem. This, was definitely an invoker. The warlock withdrew a stake from his cloak, and hefting the pointed end, he whipped the sharpened shaft of wood in the young druids direction. About the same time, the golem had finished coming to life, and it lunged for him. Jesce dropped down to his back and threw his legs up over his head, rolling to his feet again, he successfully evaded both, though when he stood again he found Koba biting and ripping at one of the golems limbs.
The golem kicked the wolf aside, a yelp following his favored pet's landing, Jesce drew both his hands togather and called a scinillating ray of light into his palms, then thrust outward, piercing the fleshy creation with a blinding flash. The walls of the city and nearby buildings were splattered with red as the golem exploded into shreds, though another pair of stakes were only briefly avoided when the warlocks path was cleared, and Jesce brought his staff up to parry a second blow, though this time, he fell flat on his back from the force. The invoker had apparently turned tail and run however.
Karmak ran at him again, intent on bashing his skull in it would seem, though Jesce had enough time to turn his staff, the butt of the wooden pole soundly striking the warlocks gut. Simultaniously, Karmak fell to the side, and Jesce's staff was knocked free of his hands. He stumbled, attempting to regain his footing, though he was slower to rise than the warlock, who gripped his staffin both hands and swung it downward at the druid. Jesce was not caught totally unaware, meeting Karmak's blow with a ray of truth, both combatants were knocked to the ground again, though this time, Jesce lay dazed for a few moments, a small amount of blood starting to stain his mouth, he struggled to regain his bearings, and muck to the warlocks suprise, a loud clicking sound issued from the druid heralded a huge swarm of locusts, four-inch long grasshopper-like insects, with rather large teeth. They converged on him, stinging and biting.
Karnak rolled around, crushing many of the insects, though Jesce stood and gathered up his staff again, calling out as the last of the locusts were smashed Give yourself up, and come with me, and you will not be harmed...
Karnak shook his head for what? I haven't done anything! he spat, and withdrew a large potion gourd from his pouch. Jesce blinked, and brough up his staff to slap the gourd aside when it was thrown, though unfortunately, the thin container shattered, and the contents hit him full on, surrounding his figure in pink smoke. Entirely confused, Jesce smirked, unharmed for the moment, it was quite obviously a failed frog gourd. In his confusion however, Karmak turned away, his figure staining black and quickly shrinking into the form of a raven, which promptly flew away.
