Tuor Eladar, son of Huor, son of Galdor

The Edain

Edain was the name given by the Elves to the Men of the Three Houses who became allies of the Eldar against the Enemy. They were sometimes called "Fathers of Men" or "Elf-friends", for they indeed created great ties with the Elves, learning their language and ways of living when they reached Beleriand, centuries after they fled Hildorien.

Three were the House of the Edain that came from the West of Middle-Earth and the shores of the Great Sea. The first to set foot on Beleriand, and thus were called The First House of the Edain, were the Beorians. A confederation of clans that lived a nomadic life. Their chieftain, Balan, was later named Beor because of his devoted service to Finrod Felegund. Second came the Haladin. They were a loose-knit group of clans and had no real leaders. They were less attached to the other houses, and finally came to settle in the Forest of Brethil, near Doriath. Finally came the Third and mightiest House of the Edain, the Marachians. They were the most numerous tribe of the Edain, and the best organized. Following their leader Marach, they finally settled in the regions of Hithlum.

Marach

Marach was the Lord of the Men who entered the western lands after the Tribe of Beor the Old, and the Haladin. They were an orderly and large folk, and came over Ered Luin slowly, being surpassed by those under Beor. When they did arrive in Beleriand, the Ossiriand Elves hid themselves from these warlike men, and Marach passes to the lands south and east of Estolad, Beor's Encampment.

There was a great friendship between the people of Marach and those of Beor, and they lived there for many years, visited often by Fingolfin and other elven emmisaries. Marach lived in and around Estolad until his death. He had one son whom he named Malach.

Malach

Malach was the son of Marach. When the Men grew tired of Estolad, and were being pressed to move on, Malach took the people of Marach, for the most part, and moves them west. They came upon the lands in and about Hithlum and there they settled, mingling with the Mithrim elves. The greater portion of them lived in the lands of Dor-lomin.

Magor

Magor was the son of Aradan, or otherwise known as Malach, son of Marach. He led a large portion of Malach's followers south, and into the vales of the Sirion, along the southern slopes of Ered Wethrin. They lived there in peace for many years. Magor had one son, Hathol.

Hador

Hador Lorindol, son of Hathol, son of Magor, son of Malach, son of Marach established the Third, and most powerful House of the Edain. He entered the housing of Fingolfin, King of all Noldor, when he was young, and gained the love of him. Fingolfin gave Hador lordship over all of Dor-lomin, and he gather all of his kin there, creating the mightiest gathering of men in the world.

In his House, none but the language of the Grey-Elves was spoken, but they did not forget thier own tounge.

Dor-lómin Today

The Rainbow Cleft just past the gate of the Noldor is the entrance of one of Dor-lomin's rivers, the Drengist River. It flows from Lake Mithrim in the east to the Great Sea in the west. From the peaks of Ered Wethrin near Hadorsford (located in the southeastern nest of Dor-lomin) flows Nen Lalaith, through Dor-lomin and up to merge with the Drengist.

Dor-lómin itself is scattered woodlands, while as you cross the Drengist River, the open plains of Hitlum are of short grasses. Dor-lomin experiences mild summers, great for frisbee and fetching sticks, while their winters are quite fierce: cold and unpleasant.

The people of Dor-lómin were gathered by Hador: those from the southern vales of Ered Wethrin and those strewn about Mithrim and Hithlum. Under his command, the Edain of the Third House became the mightiest. The men of Dor-lomin live in peace and have high relations with the Mithrim elves. In the presence of other men however, they may be pompous... but respectful. Distrusting people they don't know who are not elves or members of the Three Houses.
