How do I make an appointment?

You will need to come into the shop during regular business hours to arrange an appointment.

A deposit will be required, usually around Twenty dollars ($20.00 AUS), although this may vary depending on artwork required previous to appointment. Please note that deposit paid will be deducted off total price for finished work.

Unfortunately bookings cannot be taken over the phone. If you are unable to visit the studio during regular business hours, we do accept bookings for appointments on your behalf by friends who can.

Can’t get to the studio during regular hours for your tattoo? We are happy to arrange your work outside of regular hours with advance notice.

Do you have an hourly rate?

Our hourly rate is usually One hundred dollars ($100.00 AUS) and applies to large-scale pieces, which will require several sittings. (We do not do “one-hour” blocks of work on a one-off basis.)

All designs on the studio wall or in our folders will be quoted as individual pieces, rather than by time.

Please note that we cannot quote prices over the phone.

Does it hurt?

Don’t let our name put you off!

Of course, we would be lying to you if we if we said there was no pain involved, but in our experience the vast majority of first-time customers find that getting tattooed isn’t as painful as they had expected. If you are considering your first tattoo and are worried about the pain factor, our best advice is to have a good meal before you arrive and when you get here,……………………. just relax!

Will I develop an allergic reaction to the ink?

This is highly unlikely. The inks we use are standard in the trade and are purchased from reputable suppliers only. While it is not impossible that an individual could have an allergic reaction, such a chance is very remote. We cannot give medical advice, so if you have a history of allergies or any pre-existing skin conditions, we strongly recommend that you consult your G.P. BEFORE getting tattooed.

Could I get HIV or Hepatitis from a tattoo?

While there may be some risk if you get tattooed in a “back-yard” shop or in non-professional conditions, there should be no risk of infection with either HIV or Hepatitis in a reputable, professional shop that is inspected by the local health department. As far as is known, there have been no recorded cases of such infections happening in any professional shop in Australia. We are more than happy to explain our sterilisation process to you if you are concerned.

Can I have a few drinks before I get tattooed?

We highly recommend that you don’t. Even only a couple of drinks will tend to cause you to bleed more heavily, making it harder to work the colour in, and thereby lengthening the amount of time it takes to tattoo you. Also, while alcohol may help you relax in the short term, it has no genuine anaesthetic effect. In any case, it is our policy not to tattoo any persons who appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

How should I look after my new tattoo?

In general, a tattoo will take around 7-10 days to heal for the average person.

During this time we recommend that you:

-         Avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.

-         Avoid any swimming or long baths. (Showers, however, are fine)

-         Avoid picking at, or scratching, the tattoo.

We also recommend that you use either BEPANTHEN ® or PROTAT ® Cream on the fresh tattoo at least once or twice daily until healed. This will help to prevent a thick or crusty scab from occurring.

When looked after properly, your tattoo should develop no more than a light, flaky peel on the surface, which will fall away over the duration of a few days. Sometimes, freshly healed tattoos have a milky or shiny look to them for a brief time, as a fresh layer of skin grows over the worked area.

We will do our part of the job to the best of our ability – but the tattoo is not finished until heals, and that part is up to you.

General Advice for first time Customers

***        Do not be in a rush! Some people feel the need to get tattooed “right this minute”, whilst they’ve got their courage up. If this is you, we advise that you slow down, and take the time to work out if you really want a tattoo, and if so, what design you really want. Once you are certain on these two things, getting the nerve up becomes less of an issue.

***        Likewise, be sure you have picked the design you really want. If you find yourself wondering about how easily it is to remove down the track, you probably do not really want it.

***        Do not short-change yourself by getting something smaller than it should be, or hidden away in a spot where you do not really want it.

We guarantee that your mother will spot a tiny tattoo on you just as quickly as she would if you got it done it’s proper size! Also, if money is an issue, you will be happier in the long run to wait until you can afford what you want, rather than adjust the size or design to suit your budget on the day.

***        Feel free to ask us for advise if you need it. We often let people browse through the designs for a while before approaching them, so do not be shy to come forward.
