Here is the announcement for a Liederkranz Summer Picnic in 1950. I remember that the food was good but the
bingo after lunch was better. Since it was in a wooded area it was REALLY hot. This may have one of the earlier post-war picnics at this location. The picnics were probably held here during the 30's as well because I
can remember prowling around the woods at Onkel Franz' place with my parents when I was 5-6 years old and seeing the building with the picnic tables, etc. as well. After the war 1946-47 the picnics were started up again
but in the woods at Herbert Rehschuh's Place. This went on for 2-3 years and then moved to the former location. Not sure how long this went on but probably until the late 50's or so. - Peter |
