Fly back to home
"It's a poor sort of memory that only works backwards."
Charles Lutwidge Dodgson 1832-1898

ow many of us have had bad experiences and felt like the whole world was against us? To keep our sanity, we keep friends. Oftentimes, they're my pillar of support, my source of inspiration, or just a shoulder to cry on. This is my dedication to my beloved friends -- they touched my heart and I've never been the same again. He he, Thank God.

I heard someone say that a true friend walks in when the whole world walks out. Someone also said that true friends don't go in front of you and urge you to follow; or stay behind and ask you to lead; no, true friends walk beside you and just be your friends. . .These are my true friends:
Michelle. If I lost everything, I'd get it all back the second I set my eyes on you again. Every time, it seems that I disappoint you right when you believe in me most. I'm sorry. I'm not a perfect man, but I'll gladly suffer a lifetime of being labeled a failure just for the honor of witnessing your angelic smile. You know, the one you make whenever you think I do something silly or stupid. Girl, you’re so good to me. My mind hopelessly attempts to justify why a person like you actually loves a person like me. I love you.
To my parents. The older I get, the more I realize that you are the two greatest people to ever raise a bratty kid. It must be a side effect from all the guilt I feel for the way I've mistreated you two. And, if it's any consolation Dad, all those lectures you painstakingly tried to penetrate my thick skull with--actually got through. Mom, you are the epitome of leadership by example. I hope to stay ambitious and successful like you.
How could I not mention my older brother, Hector? I love you and you are my blood. Each and every fond memory I've retained from my childhood is treasured in you. And I am secure knowing that you will be there for me for the rest of my life. You've impressed me with your knowledge and street sense, like an older brother should.
Vidal. Life in the Navy is hectic enough without having a friend to laugh with/make fun of. You and I both know that trying to make friends in the military is very discouraging when you know that you will be going your separate ways within a few months anyway, so why try? You've completely dispelled that myth for me. Thanks for listening to my incessant bitching.
Dearest Chuck and Jaime. How could I have survived Corps School without you, Chuckie? You looked after me like my older brother. Everything that I consider the ideal honest man I see in you. You're a good guy, with a great girl: Jaime, your so sweet and sensitive. Your gift of being independent epitomizes the modern woman. I know you'll take care of Chuck, and that Chuck will honor you. God bless you both on your wedding day.

I am extremely grateful for your love. It is true that one man can not do it alone. He must have friends to sweeten life that all too often gets bitter. Please accept this dedication as my humble gift to you all. What you have given me, I can never repay. Please pray for peace and may no harm come to those who believe in love itself. . .
