Acromantula- It is a creature which has a M.O.M rating as XXXXX (dangerous), and it is a monstrous eight-eyed spider capable of human speech. For more Click Here

Ashwinder- Another creature which is rated as XXX (can be tamed by a professional ), the Ashwinder is only created when a magical fire is allowed to burn unchecked for too long. A thin, grey-play serpent with glowing red eyes will rise from the fire and slither away into the shadows...

Animagi or Animagus- A human being who can turn himself into only one kind of animal he wants.

Azkaban- The prison which is maintained by the Ministry of Magic. It is really horrible and people are guarded by Dementors who are souls sucking creatures. If you are close to a dementor it will suck all the happiness out of you.

Accio- A summoning charm which harry used in the fourth book to get the Broomstick to him !

Aragog-
a very big spider which can be found in the Forbidden Forest

Arthimancy-A subject in Hogwarts where you can learn all about money.

Avada Kedavra- worst of the Unforgivable Curses, the killing curse. Flash of blinding green light and rushing sound. Kills without leaving a mark. Voldemort tried to Kill Harry with this same spell but was unsuccessful.

Auror- A wizard/witch who tracks down Death Eaters (Voldemort's Followers) and takes them to Azkaban.

Beater- 2 persons who try and protect their teammates from bludgers

Badger- the Mascot and symbol of the Hufflepuff

Basilisk- The King of serpent, whoever looks into it's eye dies instantly

Blast Ended Skrewets- a magical creature which look like deformed, shell-less lobsters: horribly pale and slimy-looking, with legs sticking out in odd places and no visible heads. Smell of rotting fish, females have a sucker on their bellies, males have a stinger ( thanks to harrypotterfans.net )

Bludger- a Jet black quidditch ball ; 2 balls per game, these balls try and knock off quidditch players of their brrooms.

Bloody Baron- The Ghost of the Slytherin House. Peeves , the joke maker is very scared of Bloody Baron.

Boa Contictor- a snake Harry met in the Zoo in the first book.

Boggart- It's a shape shifter, it can turn into the thing you fear the most.

Burrow, The- The home of the Weasleys

Buckbeak- the Hippogriff whom Harry & Ron loosen so that Sirius could take it and fly away. These Hippogriff's can only be touched after you have bowed and so has it & do not even try insulting it , as this can cause injuries.

Butterbeer- a Drink which is served in Hogsmeade

Borgin and Burkes- A shop in Knockturn Alley where Draco and his father went to buy some thing.

Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans - wizard candy which comes in a lot of flavors-such as chocolate, peppermint, spinach, liver, tripe and vomit, egg, Vanilla and many more flavors..

Billywig- The Billywig is an insect native to Australia. It is around half an inch long and a vivid sapphire blue, although its speed is such that it is rarely noticed by Muggles & often not by Wizard too. Rating : XXX ( Can be tamed by a professional )

Cauldron- A pot in which things are put to make potions

Centaur- A half horse and half human specie who or which can talk and is respected throughout the world. More on it Here

Chocolate Frogs- Really delicious candy found on Hogwarts Express and in Hogsmeade

Chocolate Pudding- A Bertie Botts flavor

Charms- A sort of spell

Chamber of Secrets- A secret chamber or place Salazer Slytherin made after he had lost to Godric Gryffindor.

Cleansweep Seven- A broomstick for flying

Caramel- Another Beans flavor

Clearwater, Penelope- a Ravenclaw prefect and Perfect Percy's girlfriend who had been a victim of the Basilisk

Crookshanks- Hermione's cat and Sirius Black's friend who knew Scabbers wasn't a normal rat

Daily Mail- Muggle newspaper

Daily Prophet- Wizard/witches newspapers

Death Eaters- Supporters or Followers of Voldemort

Defense against the Dark Arts- This is a subject learnt by students. There is no stable teacher for this subject

Dementor- the dementors guard the prisoners in Azkaban and pull all the happiness out of the person & when it is ready it goes for the Dementors Kiss

Dementor's Kiss- The Dementor's Kiss is used only for really rotten people and the person's soul is sucked out which is worse than dying

Fang- Hagird's pet- a dog

Fluffy- One of Hagrid's pet too .... It has three heads

Fat Lady- The woman in a pink suit and protects the gryffindor common room and asks for the passwords.

Fawkes- Dumbledore's Pheonix

Floo Powder- This powder can make us travel anywhere in this magical world. All you have to do is stay close to a fire, put the powder over yourself and say the name of the destination.

Forbidden Forest, The- This forest has a lot of creatures which you have never seen before. Some are like Werewolves, unicorns, Aragog, Centaurs and many many more creatures. This place is really forbidden !

"Finite Incantatem" - a charm used by Snape to end commotion by students ( thanks to harrypotterfans.net )

Firebolt- The broomstick Harry got in the third year

Galleons- the gold coins in the wizarding world. It equals to 17 sickles.

Gambols & Japes Wizarding Joke Shop- You can find this place in Diagon Alley

Gillyweed- a very important plant which let's us breath underwater for some time.

Gnome- Small little creature which are found in wizarding gardens and have to be removed

Goblins- they run the Gringotts Bank

Grunnings- the company where Uncle Vernon works.

Gryffindor- the house at hogwarts

Godric Gryffindor- the founder of Hogwarts and the one of the houses are named on him.

Griffin- The griffin originated in Greece and has the front legs and head of a giant eagle, but the body and hind legs of a lion. Rated- XXXX ( Dangerous / skilled wizard may handle )

Grim- a giant black dog, supposed to be death omen or death sign.

Hedwig- Harry's snowy owl whose name is Hedwig

Hippogriff- See Buckbeak

Hogwarts- a school where mini wizard and witches learn all the magic they need to face out in the world.

Hogsmeade- The only magical village near Hogwarts where there are lots and los of sweets and only 3rd years and above can go there except only when you have the maurader's map and a invisiblity cloak.

Honeydukes- The sweet shop in Hogsmeade

Hufflepuff- a hogwarts house

Half-blood- a child whom only has one wizard parent and the other a muggle parent.

Horntail- a type of Dragon

Horklump- The Horklump comes from Scandinavia but is now widespread throughout northern Europe. It resembles a fleshy, pinkish mushroom covered in sparse, wiry black birstles. Rating is X (Boring)

Imp- The imp is only found in Britain and Ireland. It is sometimes confused with a pixie. It has the same height as a pixie. Rating is XX ( can be domesticated /Not dangerous )

Invisibility Cloak- Shiny, Black and when you wear it it makes you invisible. Harry Potter has it as James Potter had got it..

"Impervious" - a magic spell Hermione put on Harry's glasses so they would repel water during a Quidditch match

Keeper- The person has to save the quaffle from coming into the goal.

Knightbus- Bus which can be called upon when wizards lonely and alone ; summoned by raising the arm of the wand

Knuts- Small bronze little coins; 29 knuts to a sickle

King's cross- Station where 9 and 3 platform is and where you board the Hogwarts Express.

Kelpie- The British and Irish water dem can take various shapes, though it most often appears as a horse with bulrushes for a mane. Rated as XXXX ( Dangerous/ required skilled wizards )

Knockturn Alley- Place next to Diagon alley where all the dark art stuff can be found

Lemon drops- Dumbledore's favorite candy flavor

Lion- The symbol of Gryffindor

Lumos- A spell which makes light shine upon

Leaky Cauldron, The- A place where you can hang around and drink or stay there for some money.

Muggles- Non-Magical People are called Muggles

Maurader's Map- The Map which was invented By Lupin, James Potter, Peter and Sirius Black

Memory Charm- this charm makes people forget things in the past

Moony- The nickname for Professor Lupin when he was at Hogwarts

Mudblood- a slang for half blood wizard

Mosag- Aragog's Wife

Merlin- The mermaids and people who live underwater

Nagini- Voldemort's faithful snake who is 12 feet long and has a venomous bite

Nimbus 2000 - One of the respectable flying broomsticks

Nimbus 2001 - Another one of kind broomstick

Norbert- Hagrid's pet dragon who was sent off to Charlie (Ron's brother)

Norwegian Ridgeback- One of the types of Dragons

Owls- Birds which come at night as there eyes are sharp at night.

Owl Post- The sending and receiving of letters by an owl is termed as Owl Post

Ordinary Wizarding Levels (O.W.L.s) - test taken at the end of the 5th year by students at Hogwarts

Ollivanders- The one and only wand shop in Diagon alley which had been there since a long long time...

Ollivander- The shopkeeper of the shop Ollivanders. a very old man who comes out suddenly and startles a lot of people.

Omnioculars- Magical binoculars where you can reduce and increase the speed of the game and see stunts in slow motion or replay.

Padfoot - the nickname of Sirius Black as a student at Hogwarts

parselmouth - a wizard who has the ability to speak to snakes. It is thought to be only in the Slytherin communities

parseltongue - language spoken by a parselmouth

Patronus - an anti-dementor created by using the spell "Expecto Patronum" while thinking happy thoughts

Peeves - a Hogwarts poltergeist

Pepper Imps - candy that makes you breath fire

Peppermint Toad - a peppermint flavored candy, sister candy of the Chocolate Frog

"Peskipiksi Pesternomi" - spell used by Lockhart to get rid of destructive Cornish pixies (it doesn't work)

"Petrificus Totalus" - spell for the Full Body-Bind, causing the subject to lie motionless (petrified)

Philosopher's Stone (see also Sorcerer's Stone) - a substance which makes people immortal and makes metal into shimmering gold.

phoenix - a bird that bursts into flames and rises from its ashes for a re-birth. A phoenix is a very good pet and it's tears can heal wounds.

Pigwidgeon (or Pig) - a small owl given to Ron by Sirius Black

PlayStation - item Dudley throws out the window when he's angry

plus fours - the large, blousy type knickerbockers that were used for playing sports (such as golf) that were popular in the 20's and 30's. They are called "plus fours" because they are cut four inches longer that regular knickers.

Pocket Sneakoscope - a very small spinning glass top which lights up and makes a high-pitched whistle when there is somebody or something suspicious around

"Point Me" - a spell which causes your wand to act as a compass and point north

Polyjuice Potion - a potion that makes a person change into a different person

Porskoff Ploy - a Quidditch move

Portkey - an object which is "used to transport wizards from one spot to another at a prearranged time."

Potions - a class at Hogwarts taught by Severus Snape. Potions class teaches students how to make potions such as enlarging potions, bubbling potions, etc.

Prefect - an honored senior student who helps with younger pupils

"Priori Incantato" - a spell which, when placed on a wand, causes the wand to identify the most recent spell that it performed ~Juliet

Priori Incantatem - an effect which occurs when two wands of the same core material are brought into combat with one another, causing one to force the other to release shades of former spells. This effect is characterized by the appearance of bright, gold-colored threads which unite the two wands and encase their owners.

Privet Drive - the street where the Dursley's live, complete address is: 4 Privet Dr., Little Whinging, Surrey

Professorhead - a name peeves calls Dumbledore

Prongs - the nickname of James Potter as a student at Hogwarts

Puddlemere United - a professional Quidditch team

Pumpkin Juice - beverage enjoyed by wizards and witches at Hogwarts and on the Hogwarts Express

Pumpkin Pasties [PASS-teez] - a treat on the Hogwarts Express cart

pure-blood - slang term for a wizard born of two wizarding families

Pure-Blood - password to the Slytherin common room

Put-Outer - a device used to turn streetlamps on and off, looks like a silver cigarette lighter

Quaffle - bright red Quidditch ball about the size of a soccer ball; 10 points every time a chaser gets a Quaffle through the goal hoop

Quality Quidditch Supplies - a shop in Diagon Alley which sells broomsticks and other Quidditch supplies

Quidditch - wizard sport played on brooms with four balls

Quidditch Cup - trophy given to the best Quidditch team at the end of a season

Quidditch season - begins in November

Quidditch World Cup - international Quidditch tournament

Railview Hotel- The Hotel where Uncle vernon took the faimly to get away from the letters

Ravenclaw- One of the four houses at Hogwarts

Remembrall- glass marble spepherical & turns red when the person has forgotten something

Romania- Where Charlie ( Ron's brother ) studies Dragons

Ron Weasley- Harry's best buddy in Hogwarts and he has a lot of brothers- Percy, Bill, Charlie Fred and George and a young angel named Ginny. He loves QWizard chess and is brilliant at it.. More more Click Here

St. Bruti's Secure Center for Incurably Criminal Boys- This is the way the Dursley's explained to Aunt Marge where Harry had gone all year

Scabbers- Ron's fat little rat who was reported to be Peter

Secret-Keeper- a person who knows somebody's secret and know one will know about it till The Keeper wants to tell it

Scamander, Newt- Wrote Fantastic Beasts and where to find them

Seeker- the player who catches the snitch & ends the match ; there is only one seeker per team

Snitch- the golden shimmering ball which has to be caught to end the match. If seeker catches it, their team will get 150 points

Shrieking Shack- the shack behind the Whomping Willow. This place was rumored to be haunted as villagers would hear noises at night from there. The noises were made by Lupin though.

Sickles- They are Silver coins, 17 sickles to a Galleon

Skeeter, Rita- a very rude and frisky reporter who wanted to make her reports as interesting as the readers would like

Slytherin- One of the four houses of Hogwarts

Salazer Slytherin- the founder of the Slytherin House

Snake- Symbol of Slytherin

Severus Snape- The potions master who dislikes Harry very much as his father had saved him after a very dangerous trcik they played

Sorting Hat- an old wizard's hat left behind by The founders of Hogwarts, this is to assign the students to their respective houses

S.P.E.W- organization founded by Hermione to stop House elf's to work for free as a slave and work for themsleves

Sugar Quills- These quills can be taken from Hogsmeade and you can secretly take it to class and start eating it :-)

Sorcerers Stone- See Philosopher's stone

Three Broomsticks- a small little pub in Hogsmeade where you can order drinks like Butterbeer etc.

Time-Turner- a device which can make time go behind

Transfiguration- a spell which changes the physical feature of the person completely

Transfiguration- a class at Hogwarts which is taught by Minerva Mcgongall

Triwizard, Tournament- a competition between three schools. One student from each school. This tournament compiles dangerous though very challenging tasks

Troll- The troll is a very well built monster almost 10 feet long and sometimes comes with a club in his hand to fight. It can kill people and is very dangerous

Trevor- Neville's Pet toad who always get's lost

Veritaserum- a very powerful truth potion which cannot be controlled.

Voyages with Vampires- A book written by Lockhart describing his FALSE experience with Vampires

Wand- a magic (willow good for charm or spell work )

Weatherby- Sr. Barty Crouch used to call him that though he is dead now :-(

Werewlves- Dangerous when in wolf form but only turn into wolf form on a full moon

Whomping Willow- the very aggressive tree outside Hogwarts which is very voilent and was the culprit of tearing Harry's broom Nimbus 2000

Winky- An house elf of Barty Crouch

Wingardium Leviosa- makes things fly in the air

Wronski Defensive Feint - a Quidditch move, a dangerous Seeker diversion. The seeker flies really fast going dwon at the ground pretending he has seen the snitch and when close to the ground moves out, so that the other seeker follows him and crashes. You-Know-who - The term used by people who are afraid to use his real name

Zonkos's Joke Shop - The joke shop in Hogsmeade. Fred and George have bough a lot of dumgbombs from this place
