- Hogwarts gamekeeper and Keeper of the Keys, Hagrid lives in his cottage with his boarhound, Fang near the outer edge.
- Centaurs are known to live within the deeper edges of the Forest.
- Aragog and other giant spiders are also known to live here as well.
- Arthur Weasley's bewitched Muggle car has inhabited the Forest, since Harry's second year.
- Unicorns are yet another mystic animal to dwell in these areas.
- Lord Voldemort made an "appearance" here, while with a school professor.
