Mistakes
in everything Harry Potter-related!

While reading the books for the first time, you might be more intent on the plot rather than notice the mistakes. But reading the books for the second, third, or fourth time those little errors while definitely pop up. Here is a collection of the mistakes fans have noticed. If you have any more to add, just e-mail me at hpmaniacs@yahoo.com.

On page 164 of the US bk. 3, Hermione says, "I'd like to see the disguise that could fool those dementors...They'd have seen him [Sirius Black] fly in too," implying that dementors can see. Yet later in Book 4, Crouch contradicts this by saying, "The dementors are blind." [pg. 684] Sirius Black also states in Book 3 that "dementors cannot see." -Melinda

I took her saying "the dementors would see" as in they would sense his presence.

The soft cover editions have it properly done... with Lily saying "Your father is coming."

Melinda:

"Behind the Slytherin goal posts, however, two hundred people were wearing green..." [pg. 305]

This would be one fourth of the school, meaning that there would be ~29 people in each Slytherin year. However, if you check the book, each year actually has 40 students -- 10 per house -- leaving Slytherin 10 innstead of 40. Yes, the staff counts too, but the only teachers supporting houses are the Heads of those houses, so one less person doesn't fix the mathematical error.
