Was the Malfoy's house-elf who warned Harry to not go back to school in book 2. Was set free by Harry at the end of book 2. Started working at Hogwarts in book 4. Helped Harry get through the second task in book 4. In book 5 Dobby helped Harry find a room to secretly teach defense against the dark arts.
