CLUTCHING THEIR PURCHASES, MR WEASLEY IN THE LEAD, THEY ALL HURRIED INTO THE WOOD, FOLLOWING THE LANTERN-LIT TRAIL. THEY COULD HEAR THE SOUNDS OF PEOPLE MOVING AROUND THEM, SHOUTS AND LAUGHTER, SNATCHES OF SINGING. THE ATMOSPHERE OF FEVERISH EXCITEMENT WAS HIGHLY INFECTIOUS; HARRY COULDN'T STOP GRINNING, TALKING AND JOKING LOUDLY, UNTIL AT LAST THEY EMERGED ON THE OTHER SIDE, AND FOUND THEMSELVES IN THE SHADOW OF A GIGANTIC STADIUM.

The Quidditch World cup was as magnificent as ever. The Bulgarian team fascinated the crowd with their mascots. The Veela glided onto the pitch and danced with their white-gold hair fanning out behind them and moon-bright skin shimmer under the silver moon. Even the famous Harry Potter, who was sitting up in the top box was charmed by them. Angry yells filled the air when they stopped dancing but as the Irish team mascots zoomed around the stadium, dazzling the crowd with gold, the yells were replaced by 'ooohs' and 'aaahs' before a rumaging to get as much gold as possible. Though very little knew that Leprechaun gold vanishes after a while.
The game commenced when the Bulgarian (Ivanova, Zograf, Levski, Vulchanov, Volkov and Krum) and Irish (Connolly, Ryan, Troy, Mullet, Moran, Quigley and Lynch) teams swept onto the pitch. To the crowd they appeared as red and green blurs on their Firebolts.
Moves such as the Hawkshead Attacking Formation were used before the famous Wronski Feint was used by Krum. While Lynch was being recovered by madiwizards, a fight began between the Bulgarian and Irish mascots, when the referee, Hassan Mostafa, who came all the way from Egypt, was enchanted by the Veela after a mediwizard kicked him in the shins. Mostafa was so embarassed, he attempted to send off the Bulgarian mascots when the Bulgarian Beaters, Volkov and Volchanov began an argument with the referee ending with the referee giving Irland 2 penalties.
The game ended dramaticly when Krum caught the snitch, winning Bulgaria 150 points, but losing to Ireland. The scores were: Bulgaria - 160 to Ireland - 170.
