In honor of Frankie Hector, welcome to.....The Frankie Files!

The character of Frankie Hector is surely the most hotly debated subject in the history of “Ed”. Despite her short tenure on the show (and despite being dismissed as a mere roadblock) she generated debate like nobody else and caused a split among Ed fans as many realised that there was an alternative to Carol. It wasn’t to be, of course. Frankie had to stand aside as TV Law (and the misguided NBC executives) dictated that it had to be Ed and Carol, not Ed and Frankie. But it's a tribute to the writers and Sabrina Lloyd that her impact was out of all proportion to her guest star status. To quote one contributor, she “exceeded her programming”, arousing passions that have yet to completely die down and causing schisms that will never close. Frankie’s legacy is the impact she had and it is represented in the text of the debates that raged at Stuckeyville.com during her time on the show and well beyond. As a tribute to a wonderful character who was ultimately sold short, we present the (Almost) Complete Frankie Files.

The Frankie Files are the complete, unedited, text of every debate in the archives of Stuckeyville.com that was about, or significantly featured, Frankie. From the trivial to the passionate, from the sublime, to the ridiculous, from the pro to the anti, they are all here. All, that is, that still exist. Housekeeping at Stuckeyville.com has meant that many threads have been deleted completely, but all that remain, are here.  Going through these threads explodes one pernicious myth…that Frankiephiles were a tiny minority. Not in these debates. The pro-Frankie’s are almost a match for the anti’s in both number of posts and number of posters. The triumverate of bobcat, hprevan2 and paulmcuk is well known but we were far from alone. In fact, in the early days we were nowhere to be seen and it was left to others to lead the charge. Remember Ed_Head? Charvo? Neoscooby? Kinkudzu? All very vociferous. Then there was b_effinger, heyroj, been_there, smalltown, JR, Candy_W, Espo, Housofivi, agaetis kid, $10burger, Greeneyes87, C.Layden, Corsair, RW3, Gondee, Mgcrans, Ed-Rulz, Lhouse05, Adora, Bluestar44, Maxpm, Inkblot344, Hero4highr, Zombie_ed, Stand By, Bender, Ksukris, Zaslowe, Mertmag, Narziss, Fivebucks77, Camille, Chits, FrankieRox…to name but a few. Most are now gone, but they stood up and we have counted them.     So here they are, The Frankie Files, separated into the various Frankie-eras: Who’s that girl?, Frankie v Carol, Wrong Decision and Gone But Not Forgotten.
