Annie Mae Sydow

Annie Mae was Calvin's sister-in-law. She was married to Esther's late brother, Cecil.

I am sending a photograph of Cecil in a grey suit that Calvin let him use to come see me on Thanksgiving before we married on December 6, 1927. Cecil said his suit was in the cleaners.

Calvin and Esther went with us in Cecil's roadster. It was built for two, but four of us came to Waco to see the Vaudeville Live Show at the Hippendrome. We had some nice times together.

Calvin and I grew up in the same community between Mart and Victoria which at that time had a school, a cotton gin and a grocery store. He was a Hinson, I was a Hudson. His dad was Tom, mine was Burrel.

I never knew much about Calvin but he always treated me nice and respectful. Cecil had to go to the railroad hospital one time with tonsilitis. Calvin drove our car and took me to Palestine Railroad Hospital. We ate and came home same day. I left my baby girl Fran with my mother. Calvin was very nice and kind to me like a sister he could help.

I forgot what year J.C. went to college at A & M, but one Thanksgiving I invited them, Calvin, Esther, J.C. and Donald all up. I fixed them a lovely dinner with all the trimmings. We had a nice time and J.C. really bragged on it and so did Calvin. I think that was the only time I fixed for them but enjoyed doing it very much. That was at our old home place years ago.

When they lived on Hatcher or Thatcher in Bellmeade if Esther was not home we sat on the porch swing and talked of old days a short time. Esther worked but I never knew her hours. So enjoyed our short talks.
