The Joker: The Card of Mystery

This is the card of no definition, no foundations, and no assumptions.

It has been said the Joker is the only card for which there is neither time-line nor lifeline.

The Joker is a card without meaning, without relationships, without comparisons, yet it is the echo of every other card. The Joker is capable of assuming the rôle of each and every other card in the deck, red or black; high, low or neutral.

Chameleon, shape-shifter, dreamer, quester are but a few descriptors of this mystery card. Though their identity is shrouded in the unknown, their countenance is a reflection of whatever they rest against.

The reflections, just as the cards themselves, have two personalities. It remains the domain of the holder of the card to determine which personality, which traits are given to the Joker.

Used, abused, scorned or idealized the Joker remains free, at ease, and unaffected by we mere human observers. The Joker is the ultimate instructor if we are but able to hear his message.
