IT'S IN THE FEATURED CARDS _______________________________________________________ January 30, 2001 8:12am Moon (Ari) Squ [Can] Node With the Moon firmly in Aries it is fitting to look to the Emperor for insight and as I am still deep in my study of the Elemental Tarot I will go there for the card. Card # 4 Emperor Interpretation: Father I AM THE RULER OF MY OFFSPRING AND MY POWER IS FROM HIM Sun/Ascendent (this differs from most decks: Mars is the most oft prescribed planet: however, even with this obvious break with Aries the card continues to experience the impact of Mars: in this deck the Mars card is the Devil which is more in association with Capricorn) Seated on a black marble throne, a powerful man carries on his shoulders a happy child. the child embodies the future, the self transmuted and reborn. In a golden sky, two birds carry a garland, indicating honor, distinction, binding, and linking together. Two mountains represent ambition, constancy and the male principle. On the arm of the throne there is a green Serpent in an attitude of aggressive challenge its tail coiled in a symbol of eternity. My personal understanding of the Emperor as a weigh-station encountered on life's journey encompasses the concepts of: Regulation, Structure, Curiosity, Initiative, Instigation, Investigate, Lawgiver, Enforcer From my personal tarot table I offer you the following: The Emperor, standing beside The EMPRESS, is the 'tri' in the triplicates, The Father, the impregnator. The EMPEROR is the one who determines patterns. Within the material world certain actions are accompanied by a reaction, predictability is acknowledged and practiced. Is discovering the finite order of the Universe controlled folly, or it is the gateway to enlightenment? The Emperor implements the rules proposed by The EMPRESS. Suddenly we are confronted with the reliable, the unwavering, and the seemingly immutable. The FOOL ( the first of the 'tri'), the womb child of The EMPRESS MOTHER ( the second of the 'tri') and The EMPEROR FATHER , evolves into the witness of the insurmountable linking of the feminine and the masculine. The knowledge embraced, thus far on the journey, becomes experience. Experience, demonstrated, creates an avenue to wisdom for some few adepts. The FOOL is gaining awareness and is actively participating. The FOOL is acquiring confidence, skill, and proficiency. Here is where the loins are girded to encounter, resolve, and begin the healing of issues dealing with the Masculine figures encountered on the journey. The Emperor paves the way for personal empowerment and the realization of personal worth. The way is dangerous and filled with terrors of the unknown. The FOOL'S indomitable spirit of adventure and exploration, the zest for the journey, and the lust for life is unabated, the journey continues.
