IT'S IN THE Featured TAROT CARD

On January 06, 2001 the Cosmic Conditions were as follows:
1:44am Moon (Tau) --> Gemini
2:31pm Moon (Gem) Squ (Pis) Vesta
2:46pm Moon (Gem) Con [Gem] Jupiter
5:10pm Moon (Gem) Squ (Pis) Venus
9:05pm Moon (Gem) Tri (Aqu) Neptune
9:12pm Jupiter [Gem] Squ (Pis) Vesta

Oh my! All that dyadic influence! So, let's take a look at the Gemini card.

Today I am reading cards from my own deck.

Card # 6, Liaison, also known as The Lovers, The Dove and the Serpent, Apogee and Perigee. The keywords for the card Equilibrium, Links, Relationship, Decision, Sexuality, Eros, Ecstasy.

The card is, without a doubt, romantically inclined. The colours are subdued and the lighting indirect. A high window in the far background shows that it is daylight, a Renaissance church spire is just visible. A young and exceedingly beautiful couple embrace, their lips do not quite meet, from the tension in their postures it is evident that this rendezvous has been long in the making. Their dress indicates a time from the Age of Enlightenment.

Around them is a tableau that depicts the arcane, a keyed pyramid topped by the Eye of Rau and a stained glass sun-catcher with obvious Arabic influences: the sacred represented by a pile of books, whose titles are obscured, but undoubtedly contain esoteric and philosophical thoughts from the long past and from the time captured on this card. We know that historically the 1600 and 1700's saw a renewed sense of reasoning and scrutiny to previously accepted doctrines and traditions and brought about many humanitarian reforms. The mundane is seen in a fruit plate and a knife entangled in a pile of sextants, calipers, spyglasses, world globes and various and assorted sundries.

Rather than the traditional geometric patterns that define the reverse of most tarot decks I have chosen to cipher into poems my point of view on the card. Liaison's poem reads:

Do you remember

Unjaded visions aimed
To cosmos and beyond
Two joined by the hearts
Selves balanced in moderation?

Do you remember

The brilliance of morns, interacting
Rectitude not bound with dogma
Nor conformity, Agape to Eros
Providing locus, challenge?

Do you remember

Ecstasy not of the flesh,
Unburdened by distance
Enfolded in equilibrium and
The Conscience of ideals?

Do you remember?

I have included the Hebrew letter 'vau' meaning "eye" and the sign for Mercury to the front of the card, as well as the Greek letter of significance.

GEMINI represents the link between antagonists, the bond that is formed when resolution of differences is reached. Antagonism in the quandary of gender focus issues is readily apparent; the more subtle antagonism of other polarities may not be so apparent.

With an examination of the twin aspects of GEMINI, we are introduced to the concept of forgiveness on a spiritual level. The struggle between the passion of antagonism and the conscience of ideals is all consuming. When an understanding is reached and two join together via the heart, and the intellect, there is a connection that neither time nor distance can reduce.

A very different challenge awaits The FOOL when sexual attraction is encountered. The power of the urge for sexual union can be totally absorbing. Procreation and continuation are potent forces in the journey through life. GEMINI urges the FOOL to become self-questioning and to strive for balance and moderation in relationship to appetites of the flesh.

GEMINI is about viewing all aspects of an issue or a topic. GEMINI teaches contemplation and examination before acceptance. GEMINI instills the ability to successfully interact with people without unquestioning conformity. Individual belief systems are beginning to be developed outside the constraints of any prior relationship.

The physical sexuality lessons of GEMINI are tempered by the incorporation of the many facets of relationship. Balance is sought in moderation and rectitude.

GEMINI encompasses every form of love from agape to Eros, and provides a locus as well. Passion, in GEMINI, is expended not only in cravings of the flesh, but in the arts and the joys of craftsmanship and skill.

GEMINI is co-joined with the Hebrew letter Vau, the eye, and all that relates to brilliancy and light. Our eyes are the establishment of a link between the material world and ourselves. Light absorbed by the eye reveals the form and substance of the world we inhabit.

Journey forth in the revealing light and in approbation.
