`HQ Series`
inc .'SS' & GTS
July 71~ Oct 74

Another HQ site ! Well they did sell 485,650  including 30,000 export .
The HQ is one of many motoring success story`s in Australia . That same great styling from the humble Belmont to the Statesman and the mighty monaro  and sporty SS  even the comercial vehicles looked the part.

The HQ was the most heavily  American influenced  Holden in its day drawing a lot of imput from Pontiac `s GTO with wide curves and lights in the bumpers, the front chassis is straight from the F-body american cars and early drawings even depicted `396`~ `400` badges on the bodys.
Too bad they didn`t go into production!

Owner manual and service book

Base model monaros are rare to find in stock form, most are made into GTS replicas.

The Kingswood was the `working mans car` and was the `bread&butter` for GMH`s HQ sales . The Kingswood is almost an aussie icon.

The comercial range was very popular amongst tradesman and farmers ,sporty versions of the ute and van became popular with the younger crowd and were called `Sandman` with GTS type options.

The `LS` was aimed at the buisiness man or middle aged generation who wanted  luxury more than sporty in a coup`e , The `LS` is basically a 2-door Premier, V8 versions are now potential collectors items in good condition.

The `SS` was the forerunner to the GTS/4
based on a V8 Belmont with GTS options
and special paintwork it was a huge success, a limited number of 2800 were made and are now very scarce  and real collectors item. All came
with 253 V8 ,M20 4 speed, 3:36 salisbury diff.

The GTS/4 arrived in March 73 after the SS had sold well, Unlike the SS the GTS was based on a Kingswood with GTS options and Premier door trims , The GTS could be had with 253, 308 or
350 ci V8 engine options with auto or 4 Spd.

This HQ ute was exported to Africa , it was re-badged as "El Camino" with chev bowties sedans became "Chevelles".
