"On my return to India, I started working with my mom. Till then, Hrithik and I had never really talked to each other because I was really shy and so was he. Then one day in 1996, we met and were pleasantly surprised to see each other after a gap of four to five years. Anyway, we hit it off immediately. We became best friends and started talking to and meeting each other daily. And we just knew from the first moment that it was right! One day, we suddenly realised that we were in love. It wasn't a planned move and neither of us asked the other to go steady. It was very spontaneous.
"Hrithik really liked the fact that I was financially independent when we met. In fact, he was like wow! He loved that about me. I had already started working by then and was earning my own money, while he was just taking acting classes.
"Both of us are very balanced and modern but at the same time very conservative. We are never judgemental about people. We don't speak badly about anybody and I think this is what has given us positive energy from all sides. Everyone has really taken a liking to us. People are very nice and sweet because we never give any negative vibes to anybody. Neither of us believes in hating or being jealous or envious about anybody or anything. So many people have asked Hrithik how I react to all the attention he is receiving today from his female fans. He just laughs! And though we didn't count the Valentine Day cards that he received, the writers of those cards all said how much they loved him and how they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with him. It was so cute and both Hrithik and I replied to the fan mail together. I just feel really good about his success.
