2000 Renegade Project

This picture was taken at Mid-Michigan Motorplex on June 11, 2000. It was at this race that I realized why I spent sooo much money over the past 8 months. On June 11th I got my first NMRA EFI Renegade win by beating Donna Sydor in the finals. I won this race with a 9.93 at 135 MPH. This was my first time out with the PMS tuned. At this track the car was spinning to a 60 ft time of 1.37! My goal with this suspension is to see a 1.29 60 ft time before the season is up. Suspension is by TRZ Race Cars and is in my opinion, the best on the market. UPDATE!!! Since my last update, my car has ran a best of 9.60@142MPH!! I also had a 1.36 60FT time on the back bumper (rear wheels breaking the beams), so I should be close to my goal of a 1.29 60 ft. time.

Ok, here is the before and after pics of the powerplant that was making it all happen for me in 2000. The top picture was taken early in the season and since then their have been some major changes.Beneath my hood now lies an R302 blocked 347 with a driver side mounted (bottom pics) Vortech T-trim centrifugal supercharger. The heads are from Trick Flow and have a superb port job done to them by SS Performance and Machining. The intake is an Edelbrock Performer RPM that has been substantially ported by Dale Green at WP Porting Service in Kewanna, IN.
The lower three pics are the road to the driver's side blower. The bottom pic is the closest to what the engine looks like now. All blower tubes, brackets, and spacers were fabricated by SS Performance & Machining in Rochester, Indiana.

The Old Powerplant!

In 2000 I decided to give the car a new look to try to keep up with the times. The important thing here was to not have a paint scheme that someone else had had in the past. As this sport has grown so huge, that was a difficult task.
I changed to the 4" cowl induction hood by H.O. Fibertrends and decided to go with the Weld Aluma-Stars for wheels.
Once this was finished, I dropped the car off at Letters, Lines, and Designs in Lansing, IL and told him I wanted him to "rip" the paint. Aside from this request, my only other request was that he used blue for the biggest portion of the new scheme. Please check out the detail on my paint job at any of the NMRA races in 2000. This paint literally looks like someone took a can opener to it!!!

Can you say "lots o decals?"!! Although I have never been too fond of putting stickers all over something, I will have to suffer on this one. The payouts for NMRA in 2000 are more than twice as much if you have this many contingency decals on your car. For example, when winning the first race at Stanton, MI, I made $2000 from decals and only $1250 from NMRA. Makes the paycheck a little more pleasureable, huh?

Not much more to say about this pic... I plan to have some detailed pictures of the graphics on this page soon. Check back often!!
