Some people with physical disabilities require assistance with their day to day living tasks (e.g.. cooking, personal hygiene, shopping, etc). The state government offers a programme that will provide up to 34 hours of this support each week. This programme is called In Home Accommodation Support.Housing Resource and Support Service can help you apply for this programme, and will also assist you in linking in with any appropriate funding programme that you may be eligible for. If you are successful in obtaining IHAS (In Home Accommodation Support) funding, HR&SS can broker these funds for you. This means that HR&SS Case Coordinators will, with you, select an appropriate Attendant Care Service to provide the day to day support you need. HR&SS Case Coordinators will negotiate with the attendant care agency to ensure your individual needs are met. If at sometime you wish to transfer to another agency HR&SS will assist you with this. We also ensure that the attendant care workers are trained to meet your individual requirements. Brokerage at all times is based on consumer empowerment which is directed by the consumer. The Housing Resource & Support Service Inc. applies for attendant care funding through the Department of Human Service's In Home Accommodation Support program. For successful applicants, HR&SS can broker these funds to the attendant care agency or agencies of the person's choice. This method of brokerage is based on the principle of empowering the consumer. | ||
