Initiative

	At the end of the year 1996,one group of hams gathering in RAST club station namely 
HS0AC located at Rangsit near Thammasat University had the proposal to ask the authority to give 
permission in packet radio operation for 3 months.I myself felt very happy  to join this newly amateur 
radio experiment.However, three months had been passed quickly.Nothing happened.Because 
we did not have any experience beforehand.Waiting and waiting was going on.Some modem 
done by ham friend was burn because of wrong made.
New equipment 
------------------
	At the beginning of the year 1997,after waiting and waiting with feeling of hopeless,
I had been asked by HS1CHB who is HS0AC station master in that period whether I wanted TNC 
or not.Without second thought,I immediately said "Yes".He said that he asked some friend who 
came from USA to bring TNC with him.
The first TNC in Thailand

	It was so called the first TNC in Thailand.KPC-3 was the first one have got in January 1998 
together with some other hams.So,Packet Radio in Thailand has begun from now on.
Computer Problem
------------------------ 
 	Computer was so called big problem facing us in packet radio operation.
I bought one : pentium 75 MHz.in the price of 50,000 Baht.It was very expensive beyond our 
layman to afford.S0,it was only few hams coming up to participat in packet radio
operation.
Junk computer 
-------------------
	It was informed by HS1CHB that there was some education institution to clear out 
useless  out of order computer.Anyone wanted to buy it had to collect money all together to 
buy them in the form of auction.With small amout of money all together,we had some junk 
computers thinking that some of us who know about computer to check them all hoping some 
may be able to use for packet radio operation.with that junk computer,we were able to built 
a few packet radio station.
PGOT:Packet Radio Group of Thailand

	January,1998 after long discusstion with many hams,I and HS0XNO decided to 
form "Packet Radio Group of Thailand:PGOT" with the objective to promote packet radio development 
in Thailand and PGOT perform own function since then

Economic crisis
-------------------- 
	Facing all of difficulty during economic crisis push all hams in Thailand to the hard 
life causing from money disappeared becoming inflarion and deflation in the same time.Many 
people had made suicide themselves.some jumped down from electric pole.Some jumped down 
from high way.Some killed himselve with the gun.Making suicide spread out the country 
especially in the big city like Bangkok.

Assistance from Baycom 1999

	After facing the difficulty problems all about being poor and less money,I have 
got the letter dated 15-08-99 from Dr.J Kneip,the president of Baycom telling that Baycom team 
gave the support to Thailand in promoting packet radio by giving the permission
to make 
the cheap Baycom modem for all hams in Thailand including all of document concerned.
So,I was very happy and thank full to Dr.J.Kneip and all Baycom team on behalf of all hams 
in Thailand.
Packet Radio Frequency

	145.825 MHz. was only one frequency permited for all hams in Thailand to operat 
Packet Radio.
New packet radio Frequency
--------------------------------------- 
	After getting yearly licence from 1997-2000,February 27,2001,the Post and Telegraph 
Department had issued the new band plan included herein with packet radio frequency.
So,we are very happy for this new band plan.So,we can use 145.5000,145,5250,
145,5500,145.5750,145.6000 MHz.
