About the Dogs

Walter Coplen is a couselor by training, and he works for the Meier New Life Clinic in Columbia. He has been involved in barbershopping since 1998. He's the one who provides some gravitas to the often silly Dogs. His dog is named Buffy.

Chuck Bay is an architect by training, and he owns and manages Wilson's Garden Center & Gift Shop in Columbia. He has been involved in barbershopping since 1996, and was selected as the Boonslick Chordbusters' "Barbershopper of the Year" in 2001. He's the one who handles all the business affairs for the Dogs. His dogs are named Abby and Kelly.

Hugh Emerson is a science teacher by training, and he works for the Environmental Health & Safety Department at the University of Missouri. He has been involved in barbershopping since 1974. He's the one who writes new words for old songs and arranges some of the songs for the Dogs. His dog is named Rusty.

Tom Palis is a music teacher and church musician by training, and he works for Schmidt Billiards. He has been involved in barbershopping since 1998, and he has been Assistant Director of the Chordbusters since January of 1999. He's the one who picks the music and sets the key for the Dogs. His dogs are named Samson and Caesar.

We have been together since 1999, and we've competed in six contests so far. In addition to those six contest cities (Lincoln, Nebraska; Hillsboro, Missouri; Columbia, Missouri; St. Joseph, Missouri; Topeka, Kansas; Wichita, Kansas) here are some of the Missouri cities we've performed in. Have we sung in your city yet?
