6/98 Here are some of the responses I got for new baby/mother gifts. Thanks!
| Right now I don't have any suggestion for the baby but when my best friend had her first baby I sent her a bunch of lotions and "stuff" from the Body Shop. They have a special line for nursing moms (I think that is called MAMMA TOO) that she LOVED! One gift I got for my last child was a tiny beach tent. A great gift for Californians, and lightweight to ship. I found my baby snuggly extremely handy and it is pretty light weight to ship. I feel that I can make an informed judgement abt. children's gift stores. Brookline is mobbed w/ them, both in Coolidge Corner and in Brookline Village. I got shower gifts at Children's Story in Brookline on Harvard Ave. (in between Comm. Ave. and Beacon St.) Learningsmith in harvard square has some interesting items for young children, including babies. I really like to give "bright starts" toys. I have found them in Toys R Us and at Learning Smith (in Harvard Square). They are the developmentally colored and textured toys for newborns to hold and gnaw on and whatever. The cheapest ones are about $5 and they go up from there. The most appreciated one I gave (as far as I could tell) was about $8 and it was a little stuffed worm like this, each section of which was a different color (red, black, white) and texture and each made a different noise when shaken/squeezed. Lightweight and easy to send. Good luck... | |||||||||||||||
