9/99 ***I don't think the Cell One deal with Abt is any great bargain. You might consider getting the phone from a store, like Ames, with a set number of minutes. It seems that might be a good deal, especially if it's just for emergencies. I think that you buy a certain number of minutes and they're good until you use them up. Then you just get another card with more minutes. There's no monthly fees. I would have gotten that, but I already have a phone.
| ***We got a great deal with Bell Atlantic. $29/month, 300 free minutes/month during peak time (8am8pm) and free nights & weekends. Plus a $30 rebate on the purchase of a phone (I think the phone was $99). Seemed like the best thing going at the time. ***I've been very happy with the deal I got from Cell One through Abt a couple of years ago. ***I have the Cellular One deal through Abt and when I signed up (a year ago) it was a good deal heard that the deal has changed since then. I also got my phone for emergency use and have only used it a handful of times mostly when I need a pay phone and am too lazy to look for one. My deal is about $12/mo plus tax and calls within the calling area are free from 7pm to 7am Monday to Friday and all weekend long. I think calls from 7am to 7pm Monday-Friday are $.42/minute. The contract was for 2 years. 9/00 ***I have AT&T and it doesn't even work here in the office or at my apt in Brighton. I REALLY hate it. The reception is basically worthless in buildings in general. Have you looked at Verizon? I have friends with Verizon and Sprint and they both love their phones, get reception everywhere....even out in the mtns and on the ocean. ***The two of us my household recently upgraded to digital. I have Verizon 150 anywhere minutes a month for $35 + tax. The man of the house has CellOne for $25 with 70 free anytime minutes. Our StarTac phone cost about the same but mine is internet ready and his isn't as fully featured. I can get a cable to connect my phone to the laptop and he can't. CellOne did not mention the limitations on their version of the Star Tac and offered only one StarTac model. We travel but don't talk a lot so the minutes are enough for us. Overall, I'm much more pleased with Verizon than he is with CellOne. ***Have Verizon Wireless and it works well in places other than the Northeast (although most of those places have been in small to large urban areas). They have a 200 minute per month plan. ***I think the new deal by Sprint is worth looking into. They were kind of icky in the past, but they may have shaped up. Anyway, $30 for no long distance and 500 total free minutes is a heck of a deal. ***I had Bell Atlantic and had no problem with them until Verizon took over. No, I have a lot of static on my calls and a lot of dropped calls. I think they cover as far down as VA. I bought a Bell Atlantic phone and got a rebate, but I would never do that again. I would spring for a Nokia or better phone, and not the brand they carry. My phone isn't even being manufactured anymore and I've only had it a year. So if it goes caput, I'll be buying a new one. ***I've had to deal with all 3 vendors for Abt business. Cell One was the worst... ***My husband has a cell phone which I have borrowed for numerous business trips with no problems. It's a Nokia with an AT&T one rate plan. I do NOT recommend buying an Ericson phone. They offer lousy technology and they don't last. | |||||||||||||||
