10/98 ***Varant Hagopian, Mt. Auburn Hospital 8763660

***I have a great one, and he's right down the street Stephen Youngwirth, 777 Concord Ave., 4921174.

***Kevin Kaufman, M.D, Ph.D. of Belmont Eye is excellent. He is at 385 Concord Ave. Telephone # 4840900.

***My 6 year old is a patient at Lexington Eye Assoc, has offices in Arlington (Mass Ave) and Concord (Emerson Hosp Dr. Bldg)...has been going there since age 3, just had eye surgery in Aug. She sees Dr. Boger, who is a pediatric specialist, but has seen other docs there too. I plan to transfer my eye care to Lex eye next checkup. Practitioners and tech support staff are first rate. Extremely efficient, well managed practice, this has not always been my experience. Check it out.

***I like Dr. Tenpas on Mass Avenue in Arlington. However, not sure which ins. plans he participates in.

***Dr. Malcolm Greene, Jr. in Watertown is very good. (optometrist)

***I have some serious problems and go to Tufts ophthalmics in Boston. It's just a short walk from the Boylston T stop very convenient.

***I always forget are these the M.D.'s? If so, my guy isn't an MD but he's a great eye guy: Jacob Baboian on Mt. Auburn St, Watertown. He's an older guy and of the old school. He's incredibly thorough spends about 90 mins on an eye exam and does very detailed analyses. He never seems in a hurry to get you out and move on to the next person. His manner is pretty gruff but he's generous for all that he always gives me loads of product samples for contact lens, including new products that aren't even in stores yet.

3/00 ***I have a good eye doctor in Belmont Center. He's been around for a long time. He's old but very good. His name is Doctor Barsam in belmont.

***I go to Dr. Burns in Belmont. He is on the corner of School and Belmont Street just 5 minutes away. His number is 6174848800.

***Believe it or not, Dr. Cottone next to Pearl Vision in the Arsenal Mall is excellent. He's an oddball of a guy, but he's fantastic when it comes to lenses. When I first started lenses, I tried 3 different sets, a week each, before settling on what was right for me, and he was patient and helpful through the entire process.

***My eyedoctor is in Brookline, it is a daughter and father who practice together. They are not the warmest people alive, but they are nice enough and very thorough. Another doctor does the contact lenses, which costs a little extra, but I felt like was worth the money.

***Dr. Peter Cottone in the Arsenal Mall is good just don't mention that you're from Abt unless you want to talk about optometrist workforce issues. I've also heard very good things about Dr. Linda Bennett in Belmont Center.

***I was very happy with the care (and intro contact lens package) I received at Parelli Optical in the mall at Porter Square (there are several Parelli locations around the city, but I have only been to the one in Porter square).

I think my optometrist's name was Karen.

***I recently bought my first set of prescription glasses a few months ago. I went to see Leo Denatale OD, of Belmont Vision Care on Trapelo Rd. He gave me a full eye exam and was very professional and pleasant. I think there are a few others in Abt who may see him as well. He can be reached at 4844851. Hope this helps.

***I went to Dr. Bin Rong at Lenscrafters in Burlington. She is a bit pricey but offers "training sessions" for new wearers. I found that she was very good and has a great staff working for her.

***//How about the two finest female optometrists in the area? Drs. Arnelda Levine and Janet Mechanic, 1146 Beacon St, Brookline (halfway between Kenmore and Coolidge). Tel. 2326030. Oldfashioned people, send Xmas cards and calendars.

***go to Stephen Youngwirth, right down the street at 777 Concord Ave. He's fine so long as you don't need bifocal contacts.
