*** For years I used Dr. Abaskaroun on Belmont St. in Belmont for my two cats. He's compassionate, warm and wonderful with cats. tel 4892141, He's in Belmont very close to Abt.
| *** I can recommend my vet. She makes house calls! It's wonderful! For minor stuff she comes to your house. For major stuff (surgery etc.) she practices at Fresh Pond Vet Hospital around the corner. Her name is Melissa Clarke (although she recently married and I'm not sure of her new name) and her number is 8643354 (answering service). She's been treating my cats now for about two years. My cats REALLY hated going to vet to the point the vets had to wear welder's gloves for protection and once back home, their stomachs became extremely upset! Since they don't have to leave home now and everything is familiar, they really do much betterno more welder's gloves!! She's performed oral surgery on one cat (broke a tooth off at the gum line and infection/abscess was imminent) and was wonderful with postop/ followup another house call! Most recently she's been treating my other cat for an ear infection that's been extremely tenacious and won't go away. Dr. Clarke has been great with seeking other opinions and researching alternatives to continual antibiotics. I highly recommend her! *** Millbrook Animal Clinic.,Mass. Ave in Arlington. *** We go to Sue Kelly on Middlesex Turnpike in Burlington. She and her partner (whose name I don't recall) are both great. Her number is 270.0044. *** I've been moderately impressed with the docs at Fresh Pond Animal Hospital, just off Concord Ave in Belmont. They seem to know what they're doing and have great facilities and great hours (7 days a week, open 7:307:00 most days). They're expensive but they understand that people don't always want to spend major $$ on pets and want to try less costly alternatives first. We've never needed surgery for our cats (they came already neutered) so I don't now if these vets are good surgeons. *** Don't know whom you are currently using, but we've been satisfied with the cat care (including urgent care surgery) from the Cat Doctor right on Mass Ave. in Arl. Center across from the library. aside from this one urgent care episode, we've only done routine checkups, inoculation, etc. *** I have a dog, but I am very happy with Fresh Pond Animal Hospital (up the street, behind the White Hen Pantry on Brighton(?) street (by Sancta maria). My main vet is Dr. James Wilson, but I have seen several others there as well. 4841555. If it's a major procedure, you should probably check out Angell Memorial which is rated as one of the best animal hospitals in the country. *** There is a great vet on Lexington Street in Lexington. (I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Waltham area or not, but if you are on Lexington Street in Waltham where Star Market is, you continue to travel down Lexington Street into Lexington and it is on your left) *** Fresh Pond Animal clinic, on Brighton Rd in Belmont has a number of good vetsthey really are great *** I use Arlington Animal Clinic. They are pretty good over there, EXCEPT for Dr Springer. Dr Schilkey is very nice. *** Heidi Dr. Bruce Weiner, who has a clinic in Boston, is also at the Cambridge Pet Care Center on Mondays and Wednesdays (Mass Ave. between Porter and Harvard Squares). On the one hand, he is not cheap; but on the other hand, he won't push a procedure if it's not needed. My cats have been going to him for 6+ years. *** Hey, Did you call The Cat Doctor on Mass Ave., across from Arlington Public Library? I don't know whether they are any good, but they've been there a long time. *** I *love* my vet. Mary Schwacha at Porter Square Veterinarians, on Elm Street behind the Star Market. *** My former husband used to be the Chief of Large Animal Surgery at Tufts Veterinary School. He has always recommended Angel Memorial Hospital in Boston for care of small animals. Of course he recommends Tufts, but you may not want to travel to Grafton, MA. *** I really like Fresh Pond Animal Hospital (4841555). We have been taking our two cats there for years. I have found all of the vets to be terrific, both as vets and as people. Also, I really like the staff. And, they are open long hours. Even open on Saturday AND Sunday. They are located off of Brighton Street, which is off of Concord. *** Fresh Pond Animal Hospital has been very good to several of my cats. If it's very serious, Angell Memorial has the best vet surgeons I've seen around. 4/01 ***I got a couple of responses about vets, but due to distance ended up going to Heritage Hill Vet Clinic in Medfield, MA and they were wonderful. Hope this helps anyone else out there who is looking. ***My family has used a vet out in central mass for years. She deals with household as well as farm animals. We have never had any problems with her, and she has cared for all our cats and dogs for years. Her name is Cheryl Nygard, and she is located in Templeton, MA. It is a good hour from Boston. if you want the phone number let me know. ***I called around a few places for my mothers cat, (she didn't want to spend alot of money) and came across this place called the "Alliance for Animals" its in South Boston, not far! and it is a none profit organization. I had her cat spayed and two shots for under 50.00! But they only take animals that have been nuetured. I guess its a learning school for student who want to be vets, but there is a real vet on staff. | |||||||||||||||
