8/99 ***I can recommend John and Glenna Savarese, husband and wife owners of Vista Windows. They've done a lot of window work for us and we like them. They're also reasonably priced. I think they're in Watertown or somewhere nearby (I can't quite remember, but if you can't find them let me know and I'll dig up their number). 7/00 *** Wow, I can't believe the trouble people seem to have with glass places. I use a great guy named David at Inner City Glass in Dorchester. He's right around the corner from me, but maybe he'd come to Arlington, if none of the Arlington guys are interested in your business. He's replaced panes of glass in our French doors, double hung windows, storms, you name it, and he's really reasonable. He's listed in the phone book. Good luck.

*** Try Wittmore Hardware in Melrose. Not sure of the phone number. Might be spelled Whittmore or Whitmore. Ah yes. I actually keep their card in my wallet! Here's the info: Whittemore Hardware and Remodeling (781)6650900. They are EXTREMELY nice and helpful they didn't do our windows, but have done other work for us. They are a familyrun hardware store and they rely on word of mouth and good customer service to compete with the Home Depot. Good luck!

*** I have used a window company in Melrose who are very reliable and reasonably priced. Call Advanced Sash Services (781)6625600 I think the guy's name is Doug Green (if I remember correctly). We called them initially because we wanted to see if our old windows could be repaired they were way beyond repair!, so we had replacement windows installed. But I think they also will repair the windows or replace glass for you. Good luck!

*** Cambridge Glass & Mirror on Rindge Ave. Right near the church. Tiny place, big service, altho I brought my one window in to them. It was fall, so they measured, told me to put it back in place and then bring it back in once the glass was in the shop. A bit inconvenient, but they worked with me. $50 for a "standard" size thermopane window.

*** Have you tried Fine Line Glass in Arlington 7816487711? Marty just replaced some glass in my home today. I would recommend giving him a call if you have not already found someone.

***Ah yes. We had ours (14 of them) done by Advanced Sash on Tremont St. Melrose (781)6625600 Doug Green is the person there. VERY reliable, nice guy. Their prices were reasonable and he didn't try to give us the hard sell. I think our windows (vinyl Harveys) were $200something each (that included labor). Also, some of our windows were weird sizes, so had to be customordered. I highly recommend them.

You could also try Whittemore Hardware on Main St. [Melrose] we had them give us an estimate too, but we liked Advanced Sash better they seemed to have better quality windows.
