Bananas Foster


 
Bananas Foster  
     
     
Each Serving  
1   large banana, cut lengthwise, then in half as needed to fit small dessert bowl
1 Tbsp butter
3-4 Scoops vanilla ice cream
3 Tbsp walnut pieces
2 Tbsp ginger brandy, or mixed brandy and rum

 

Melt butter in saute pan over medium heat
Brown banana lightly on both faces
Add one Tbsp brandy or rum and flambe
Add one scoop ice cream and saute until partially melted on the outside
Pour into small dessert bowl
Top with rest of ice cream
Garnish with walnut pieces
Add remaining brandy and flambe
 
Variations:
For lower alcohol content, add all the brandy/rum to the saute step
Ice cream can be served separately for a cleaner presentation
