Research:
Major interests are in reproductive toxicology especially teratology. Worked on the teratogenicity of drugs like phenytoin, and foods like potatoes as well as on the mechanism of teratogenicity of caffeine (ILSI, Washington, DC grant), valproates (Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung, Bonn) and retinoids (FU, Berlin; and TiHo, Hannover grants). Also worked on reproductive toxicity and mutagenicity of irradiated antibiotics as well as medicinal herbal formulations (ICMS, Kuwait). Synthesis and anticonvulsant activity of some 1-substituted 2-oxopyrrolidine derivatives (project No., LG-1-14, KACST) and formulation and evaluation of bioadhesive drug delivery systems containing insulin (project No., AT-17-11, KACST), Saudi Arabia.
