NewsLetter May 1999
To YOU,
Once again, we find true pleasures in meeting with you over technology and paper, to bring you exclusive news updates within the HSVVN. Before that, however, let’s answer many people’s queries of why we have been rather ‘quiet’ and recap on what we have been up to during the last 4 months:
Since our last Newsletter, we have devoted a lot of our
time in revising our Website, which Phong has ensured absolute quality.
Another development that had received tremendous devotion of our time was
the setting up, then running of the Social Saturdays. {For those who are
clueless about this, here’s a brief coverage: HSVVN has established a regular
meeting point, on the last Saturdays of every month, where Vietnamese can
meet, discuss, chat and laugh together amidst the relaxing ambience of
the Royal Festival Hall, SouthBank, London.) The meetings are only in its
early stage as yet, but we hope to see it becoming a venue where all Vietnamese
young people can retrieve something ‘Vietnamese, young and unique’ about
the place! Some (terribly) critical readers may argue that these factors
alone cannot occupy all of our time… ‘Fact is’ here we are, in a period
when academic commitments are demanding of our time. Many of us in the
Committee have embarked on further studies, some are entering the most
pressing examination term. For some, full-time occupation has required
more of our attention. So, those were the underpinning reasons as to why
three Committee members have had to resign from Office. The HSVVN was undergoing
internal restructuring due to the announcement of resignation from Tuong,
Trang and Tu. It is beyond doubt that we as members and as their friends
feel a huge sense of gratitude towards their dedicated approach to HSVVN,
some of us will perhaps also feel somewhat sentimental about their departure.
Nevertheless, we have a newly elected Chairman whose vivacity has already
received support from the re-organised Committee group. Linh will be the
new Chair leading the HSVVN into a new era of Friendship and Co-operation
among Vietnamese.
The NEW Committee, thus, now looks like this:
D.X.Linh- Chairman
H.T.A.Phong- Vice Chair
P.MyChau- Treasurer
T.Quoc Tuan- Sports Officer
T.T.Tuan- Magazine
Editor
D.T.Myco- Community &
Social.Ed. Developer
These are the people to whom you should feel the ability to turn whenever queries, ideas, suggestions, comments arise. We are only an email or a phone call away.
With the restructuring matters resolved, what can we look
forward to in the next 4 months, then? Well, we have made plans for a great
summer ahead, fun-packed with a Summer Picnic, a Camping trip, a new edition
of the Magazine and many more Social Saturdays.
As for us in particular, we shall look forward to welcoming
on board new members and renewing membership for our present and valued
members!
On behalf of the Committee team, I would like express
our enthusiasm in working with the new Chair towards strengthening and
further developing the HSVVN!
New leadership HSVVN has been blessed with a new chairman to replace our respectful friend Tuong who lead the association for two consecutive years. The New Chairman, D.X.Linh, was elected on 8th May, expressed his spirit of passion towards the task of leading a team of 7 into the new Millenium. Unity and Support will be objects of attainment for the year ahead!
‘Farewell’ from our Secretary, Trang and Spokesperson, Tu Due to academic and occupational commitments, 2 of our dear committee members have had to withdraw from HSVVN Committee group. However, we don’t say ‘goodbye’, rather: ‘au revoir’ til we next meet! We wish them much success in their pursuits.
A word from the Sports Officer “TRAIN YOURSELVES
for there is about to be another national Sports Day soon!!”
