READING NO. 10
During my ten years' teaching at high school, one
question was often brought up by the students, "How to speak English
well?" Well, there is no quick way to learn to speak a language. Some
fancy(奇特的) language schools may tell
you that they have special methods(方法) to make you speak English
in a short time, but don't believe them too quickly. What they really have in
mind is to get the money out of your pocket(口袋) in a short time. But if
you are really looking for a short cut(切口), you should think about
moving to an English spoken country, such as the U.S. and England.
And if this is out of the question, then maybe you should consider(考慮)
the following(以下的). First, remember useful words. Words make sentences(句子). Second, listen to the English programs on the
radio. In the way, you will get used to foreign accents(口音).
Third, talk to Americans when you can. You can learn a lot from them. Finally,
don't be afraid to make a mistake. It is all right for you to make a mistake
when you are leaning a language. No one will laugh at you. Besides the things
mentioned(提到過) above, you also need to practice a lot. If you don't
have anyone to practice with, you can always practice with yourself in a mirror(鏡子). Don't forget "Practice makes perfect(完美)."
