READING NO. 11
Once there was a cockroach who lived in a house outside the city. He
liked to play, but he didn't like to work. One day while he was playing with his
friends, he saw some ants carrying food. He looked and looked and finally he
asked them, "Why not play with us, my ant friends?"
The ants were so busy that they didn't hear him. "Why are you
working so hard?" said the cockroach, and this time he said it loudly.
"We have no time for that. Winter is coming," answered one of
the ants. "What are you
talking about? Look! The weather is great," said the cockroach.
"Silly(蠢) ants, they don't know how to enjoy life," also said
one of the roach's friends. Then all the roaches laughed at the ants, and they
all got back to play. Time and tide wait
for no one. Soon winter came. The ants stayed at their warm home under the
ground. The food was more than enough for the winter. However, the roaches all
froze(凍) to death(死).
