Location's History
Larry & Penny Thompson Park is dedicated to the memory of
Larry Thompson, a popular humorist and columnist with the Miami
Herald for more than 25 years. Mr. Thompson was a nature enthusiast
and advocate of park beautification. The parkland, which was once
part of the Richmond Naval Station, was acquired in December 1974
as part of a 1,010 acre land transfer from the federal government
and included the Miami Metrozoo property.

Today together with duesentrieb313 we made a Thanksgiving day tour. Mars is not far away for this cache. The only is that there is too much water. TFTC and Happy Thanksgiving, Stormy

Found this one after a long scenic hike ..the hard way. LOL! Poisonwood is heavy as reported by Ted. Left green alien and a Davis dollar. Took Crystalina glass slipper.

Very interesting terrain here. Look out for the poisonwood in this area. Watch your step in this area too. TFTH

Lunch cache. As with most pinerockland caches, you want to watch for poisonwood. There was plenty at the cache site, incl a baby right near the cache. I have been to this park many times, and have never seen this! Took Frog TB, left sunglasses. TFTC!

Very dramatic area! Loved this hide, in part because it was such an unusual area. Definitely would not have seen this area of the park if not for geocaching! Found this with the rest of Team Marina and rowanf on a day of caching. TFTC!
